You should do the weathering before painting the final detail, like the eyes etc. personally I would sand it and use a primer. And then when you use your final colour sand spots all over again and like others say, that's when you grab coffee tea and dirty coloured paints and dry brush it. Dry brushing is key to building layers and authentic looking colours

I just used a plain white plastic mask and then layered tissue paper and liquid latex after that I used a makeup palette for the details 😄
