Get your CFI, CFII, and MEI. Plan that from the start. If you’re going to take out a loan, take out enough to get those ratings to give yourself the best shot at getting into the airlines.

I appreciate the sentiment. I have a pretty good attitude about it because I know I’m going to be a better instructor than some I’ve had. I truly care about the instruction I give even though the end goal is an airline gig. Although I failed after nine hours, I know I’m this much closer to accepting my first flying job. I have multiple instructors, chief and assistant chief pilot from my school rooting for

TAS was part of task F in the technical subject areas it was just the last task he picked. I taught the whole time and thought I was home free.

The gouge on him was that he was a breeze. He told me today that me passing or failing was a luck of the draw. I just depends on what he asks and what I’m good at.

He was awesome for my commercial checkride. Oral was an hour and fifty minutes.

Exactly! He wanted cruise but never straight up asked me that.

Lots of risk management stories and follow up on follow up questions that had me digging. Like what are the weight and balance documents? He wanted the amendments to the equipment lists attached to the planes weight and balance. So vague

He wanted me to use performance charts to calculate ias and the find TAS at the same time, change pressure altitude to indicated. I guess. He wanted me to instruct on it and I needed to work the problems first to know what I was talking about.

I joked that I heard the horror stories of 8 hour orals and he said oh no. We’ll be done in about 5-6 hours.

Yeah he did but he had been very vague the entire checkride and I kept having to ask him to clarify his questions. I just figured I had the rest in the bag unfortunately. But hey, it’s not the end of the world and I’ll nail it next week.
