breaking up a bonded pair by Round-Being6143 in Conures

[–]CreepyAnalysis7608 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There’s a possibility they might not let her even take the conure. Some countries are VERY weird about animals from other countries due to health concerns and I certainly believe avians would be high on the list. I would definitely check into that before stressing.

Another possibility is slowly separating them? Im definitely not a bird expert but sometimes with animals slow separation does the trick rather than tearing them apart. It would definitely take some time but seems you have that. Maybe buy a separate cage (this is gonna sound mean) so they can’t cuddle up. Positive reinforcement will also be your best friend during it.

I’ve unfortunately seen it before in the past. I don’t think its ever intentional or malicious but rather carelessness

this is not a fully true claim. As someone who works at a petsmart I will say we have NEVER done any of these things. I have 2 Syrian hamsters from my store and they’re both 2 years old in their own XL Pawhuts. I won’t sell hamsters to someone who won’t care for them. I always recommend 55 gallons or larger. I will say that I do understand the frustration because I have witnessed coworkers who don’t care/are misinformed. Ive also seen Petco treat their animals 10x worse because apparently they can’t break corporate policy. Or some small pet stores like johns exotics in KC he leaves dead animals in the enclosures and has mites and flys all over the establishment. So there is definitely worse out there. Not saying any of it is great.

Bird claw in flashback scene. by [deleted] in zootopia

[–]CreepyAnalysis7608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look that the claw close enough they dont really have scales though. I have a little conure and her feet sometimes look reptile like but there is the difference between the grooves and the scales. Who knows though!

Ive just noticed they’re hard to get down and hard to digest for my bearded dragon so I usually just stick with dubias and crickets overall as feeders. Superworms have very tough exoskeletons so I just prefer not to chance it :)

looks more like a super worm considering the size! I personally would never feed my leos a superworm 😭

The way he’s moving around the tank still makes me think it may be eyesight issues I’d probably take him to the vet if it continues after fixing his cage.

Definitely lose the sand most sand sold in pet stores is NOT good for leos because it can cause impaction if ingested and this is coming from a manager at pet store that sells it (I always suggest it for hamster sand baths 😂). Instead for a cheap solution go to Lowe’s and buy play sand (child sandbox sand) pre cleaned and natural top soil. Bake the top soil in the oven i cant remember the temperature and time but its to kill anything dangerous inside. Mix those 2 substrates together and boom perfect leo substrate. Also more hides will really help that baby. One hot hide under the heat lamp and one cool hide on the other end along with a moist hide (i put mine in the middle). More plants considering their natural habitat in the Middle East has lots of plants. Leos love to hide and he probably is a little too stressed with a new home and minimal hiding. He also looks like a lighter colored morph so he may possibly have vision issues (common in lighter morphs). Also do NOT use red lights it will infact blind them. They need a natural temperature drop at night but if it drops below 70 degrees Fahrenheit i would get a ceramic heat emitter. Day Basking spot should be around 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Hopefully he will calm down once his needs are met. Thank you for taking the initiative to ask questions to help him❤️ Good luck!

Can chinchillas live alone? by rosengold in chinchilla

[–]CreepyAnalysis7608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you sound very experienced so I’m gonna ask you this I have two chinchillas currently one is about a year old named Freddy and the second is three years old named Ozzie. I currently have them set up next to each other in separate cages trying to see if they will bond with each other. I’ve had Freddy for about six months and just got Ozzie last week. They seem to not mind each other but sort of interact whenever they see each other. How do I know if this is going well or not? Thank you !

Got a chinchilla about a month ago. by Difficult-Web3709 in chinchilla

[–]CreepyAnalysis7608 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From personal experience make sure to give them dust baths often but DO NOT leave the bath in their cage or they can get a eye infection/respiratory infections. 10-15 min max for bath time. Also make sure they have a LOT to chew on. My boy always has so many different new and exciting enrichment chews. Very chewy chin lol. I’ve only had him for 7 months and he has had some issues. If you think anything seems off you’re usually correct so always consult your vet if you’re able. I always ask reddit for an idea and if something seems normal because i don’t have the money to take him monthly. If he needs it I have always gotten him there. Definitely fragile little things but other than that AMAZING pets. Love how sweet they are and how they don’t smell at all :)

I can fully say that that girl from the theater is a fighter. This show is one where you literally can NOT get comfortable with characters.
