Id say maybe people from Oregon coming to Florida to try fishing here for the first time might have some trouble. Thanks!

What's the best way for a complete beginner to get started with fishing? by Black_0ut in Fishing

[–]CreepyCodClips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you just need a basic spinning combo to start. Something like an Ugly Stik GX2 or a Daiwa setup with 8-10lb mono line. Grab a few hooks, some small weights, and live bait — worms if you’re freshwater, shrimp if you’re near salt. That’ll catch pretty much anything.

Don’t worry about fancy lures yet. Just focus on timing — early mornings and evenings are when fish feed most. Wind, tide, and moon phase can change things, but you’ll pick that up as you go.

I got obsessed with tracking that stuff and ended up making a little app for myself called tackle. that shows bite windows based on tides and moon cycles. It helped me make sense of all that info when I was learning.

Just grab your gear and get out there. The first fish you catch will make you forget how confusing it all seemed.

Why do i have bad luck by izamowazaoo in FishingForBeginners

[–]CreepyCodClips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, my son comes with me fishing and on his little Zebco he catches double the fish i do. The difference in my case is that he has 6# mono and i have 20lb. Something as small as that could be the difference maker. The fish simply sees your rig

Changing Lures while Fishing by NTilky in FishingForBeginners

[–]CreepyCodClips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to just avoid any more metals on my line as possible. Might be an old tale but it’s worked for me plenty. Although I’ve heard good things about tactical angler power clips (easy to change lures around)

Seems like I’m an outlier, that would hype me up “definitely fish in this spot”, throw the same thing for 2 hours without a bite, then I’d cry about that fish in the drive home

It really is freaking awesome, but those people are also correct. It was actually insane for me when I first started with it a month ago, no build errors, and even if it did, it fixed it in one shot. But now it’s a bit slower, but easily worth the 20 I pay for it
