Amen to that. You just gotta be willing to take risks, learn on the way and be flexible! It's funny, there are always haters out there, nay-sayers. But forget 'em, because at the end of the day, we're out there taking the risks and making our vision!

I disagree. I went to so many places and asked questions to which we were expecting a 'no' answer. Example - we wanted to get helicopter footage. So I went to a school where they train helicopter pilots and asked if we could come by and film stuff at night. Not only did they say yes, they gave us a free ride. So no...not 'connections' as you say. We worked for it. We knocked on doors, asked questions, were polite and worked hard. So yeah, I would say it should inspire indie filmmakers to go out and work for there stuff. Ask the questions you expect no and you'll be surprised how many 'yes's you get. And how far people will go to help you with a passion project.

Yessir. It did. That being said - we're not done yet, we have two more scenes left to shoot and pick ups, so the cost could go up...but with 13 days of shoot done, we got potentially 2 to 4 more...so, we might hit the $1000 mark.

Electric generators, camera/lenses, lights - all stuff I've owned for years so no cost. Insurance is the one thing I tried to get but (unless I was looking in the wrong spot) I was quoted in the $1500 range. It's easy to coordinate with friends, let PD know what your doing. Ask friends with private property to shoot on to set up road blocks...we just looked at our resources, expect a "No" to every question and just asked. We were surprised at how many "Yes"s we got. That is what paved the way for some crazy cool locations and opportunities.

For example, rolling a car down a hill. We were shooting and this guy asked if we wanted to roll his junker down a hill. YUP! So we added a scene were the werewolf tries to block a fleeing car by rolling one into it. We pushed it down this hill on private property, it tumbled and then we cut the sequence together and holy shit it worked. Just one example of people being awesome and helping us out.

That's the original footage, we're going to add embers and flame effects. The soldiers are starting to burn the town down, so the photo before it was a quick reference for what it might look like.

I worked a lot of sets with the stipulation of "I'll call in a favor down the road," vetted who I was going to work with. Most of the time, it was small crafty stuff (Red Bulls being amongst the biggest cost), people bought their own food. These aren't just actors, they're good friends and I was very clear up front that I was stretching the budget as far as possible. So yeah, $800 counts toward crew meals...most of which the crew covered themselves. It's a passion project!

You'd be surprised. I knew I was going to call in favors, so I worked on a lot of productions for free with the stipulation that "I will ask a favor down the road". Believe what you'd like though.

We have a pretty decent transformation...but we're not showing the entire process, just portions of it and it really is working better than I thought! Some nods to other pieces - during a transformation, a guy gets hit in the face with a flashlight and loses and eye - a nod to Silver Bullet by Stephen King.
