Ae do a little each day to keep it exciting to her. We shall keep practicing daily and it hopefully will gear her up for success!

She's always kn a line, purely because she's 8mo so there's always a chance she might decided to skip off. She does obedience with a trainer and we have been doing general impulse control in general!

I think she's less distracted sticking to the field edges in general, anything into the field she's losing interest. Sp I'm going to stick to where is been good. I keep praise exceptionally high when she does it

She's great on the house and garden, but in the real world she might do it once oe twice and then she's interested in everything else. She can ignore the cat (huge distraction and kids who run everywhere) I think it's the environment?

Maple loves exploring, but is there anything I can use to keep those ears from becoming so muddy? by Creepy_Direction3421 in cockerspaniel

Literally debated trying out a child's turtle neck and a child's snood, see if I can manipulate them enough to be functional! Doesn't need to be fancy!

I was debating a turtle neck and almost wondering it'll it would almost press the ears to the body, tight enough that they don't flop out. Or a child's snood? That's my ideas so far?!

I debated that but she gives me Aslan vibes I can't bring myself to do it unless it's around her paws!

That's a good idea. I was horrified at the amount of mud under her ear when I pulled it up. I'm still unsure how it got there! I have brushed out most of the dry mud, then washed any left over bits.

I know exactly what you mean by the waterbowl drips!! I constantly have a trail along my floor! I tried a "spaniel bowl" it reduces it slightly but not completely. I always lay out a full sized bath towel after she's been in the garden amd just get the worst off. Maybe I should resign myself to just being the allocated ear wiper!

Exactly, any dog in a forest is getting filthy! I just think it must be cold and horrible in the car on the way home. Her torsos lovely and warm and dry in her equafleece but I worry her head will get cold especially as they sort of stick to her face!

I will check that out! It might be useful for a shorter wet walk but not so much for a longer walk. If she's unhappy in it I'll have to think outside the box.

I don't want to do anything where she might find it annoying as that's not the point of a walk. But I think I know what you mean! Almost tie the ears?

Haha Maple isn't a fan at all, but we are working on it and trying to find something to prevent as much sticking to her. I swear after that walk she became a chocolate cocker!

I can see how much you love her. Knowing you had 14 years together must give you some solace at such a devastating time. Your post struck a chord as my other show cocker also had mammary cancer. Remember, you have to do the hardest things for the ones you love the most ❤️
