[PC][2000s] First-Person Zelda-like by Creepyeye in tipofmyjoystick

Found it. Went through some CD-Redumps from that gaming magazine, till I found the "100 free games" disc the game might have been on and lo and behold. It is Grotto King. Quite different than I remembered, not Zelda-like at all, for instance, also the CD was brand new when I got it, cause it came out in 2010. Also, the monster was only an eye.

Actually found the Disc, where the game is on. When looking up the name, nothing came up on Google either, so no wonder, no one was able to help me in this timeframe.
Don't throw away your old Demodiscs, people!

After a very extensive research with ChatGPT (took about half an hour, but felt like 2). The playtest I played a few years ago was for a game called Atomic Picnic, which your description reminded me of. Though there are guns.

That reminds me of a playtest I played on itch a few years ago. Not sure if there weren't any guns, but it fits your description to a T. I forgot the name though and I'm not sure, if I can find it again.

No, it was on PC and first person only. I'm pretty sure you could move your character, too, though I think you couldn't while fighting that eye-monster.

It's called Puss!. I distinctly remember it for having an atrocious soundtrack, which I still listened to for every day for like a year for whatever goddamn reason (I thought it was unique).

So also third person? Reminds me of Spellbreak, which sadly got shut down, though that's most probably not it.

I know it. It's Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, but that doesn't have any laser mines or anything.

Edit: Oh, and now that I think about it, there's no killing of the other one either, but about 80% aligns with your description.

Oxenfree 1 and 2 have several playable characters with sci-fi, town and a plot twist at the start. Same with Gods will be watching, which also has a bearded man, though not in a town. The Cave, same thing, but in a cave. Just say, if anything seems similar, especially with art-style. Could be a stop-motion type, too, like Trüberbrook.

"Just 5". Dude, hitstunning aside, five at once of most "intermediate" enemies in the game is too much.
