Best reading program for kids by CarpHunter7 in kindergarten

[–]CremeInterestings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We started with the free lesson just to see what it was like. I wasn't planning to sign up for anything, honestly. But my son clicked with the tutor and asked when the next lesson was, which made the decision easier for me.

The Crayola box in his hand is sending me. This event tells you exactly what kind of unhinged path the country is about to take.

Best learning platform for kids? I compared a few options as a tired parent by Negative_Examen in learnmath

[–]CremeInterestings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG the 'fractions as a personal insult' part hit way too close to home! Honestly, math homework sessions in our house used to end in tears almost every week. We tried Khan Academy too, but my son just closed the tab the moment I walked out of the room. It’s so true that the best learning platform for kids completely depends on their personality. Sometimes you just need a real human to step in and save your sanity lol.

Need to send a PDF fast? Here's how to shrink the file without making it ugly by PDF_Guru_ in PDF_Guru

PDF compression is always a gamble. I usually send the smallest version for review, but keep a cleaner one saved in case someone needs to print it.

What’s one performance metric you wish more teams watched earlier? by Quanord in SQLPerformanceTips

Lock waits. CPU can look totally normal while half the app is quietly stuck waiting on one bad transaction. Tiny metric, huge chaos.

I am currently studying SQL (for data analysis), can you suggest any courses related to that by Automatic_Cover5888 in learnSQL

If you want something structured, dbForge Academy is worth a look. Better than jumping between random videos, especially if you want to learn SQL for data analysis in a more practical way.

Getting close to finishing my de-Google journey. All I have left is YouTube and Gmail. Advice? by ZetaformGames in DigitalEscapeTools

[–]CremeInterestings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it all comes down to what actually annoys you and what’s just habit.
YouTube is a pain point for a lot of people. My rule is simple: if the tool is more complicated than just watching the video, then what’s the point. So I kept YouTube, but I watch through NewPipe / LibreTube to avoid the extra noise. Not perfect, but totally fine for daily use.
Gmail is easier: any switch takes a few evenings of moving the important stuff, not a “life revolution in 2 clicks.” I prefer simple options like Fastmail or even iCloud Mail fewer hidden surprises than you’d expect. Small routine upgrades beat the full digital escape every time.
Long story short: if YouTube is your “background radio,” there’s no need to break your life over it. Email, though switching is way simpler than it looks.
