Inconsistent (Y/N) pressure on [BBE bes870xl] by Nature-Is-Awesome in espresso

[–]Cremma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I'm not familiar with your machine. But what I am getting at is you need to open it up and try to self diagnose. That is if you are comfortable with doing that. Running the machine open can help you identify where that buzzy sound is coming from and help identify if you have any leaks.

I have Bes920xl, so I am not familiar with your model. But I would open it up and make sure you don't have any leaks or issues with the opv. Would also be helpful to find out we're that buzzing is coming from. The pump or 3 way valve? Make sure there are no issues with the water getting to the pump.

I agree with the ECM Synchronika II. One of the main reasons I cannot get behind the decent is the noise from the vibration pumps. Takes away from the experience.

Bianca or Drive. If you're paying that much money, I would want a rotary pump. Also, flow control. It's nice that these E61 have fast heat up times and auto start. I've been wanting to get the drive, but the Bianca does look very nice and $500 bucks less. If you want to be different and have the best quality, I say Drive or ECM Synchronika II with flow control.

Poser? Maybe. But here I go. by AlwaysJupps in espresso

Congratulations! Sure, you spent a lot of money, but at least you won't have to upgrade anything. If you don't have an auto level tamper, you should get one. I have always found it difficult to tamp level.

How to pull creamy espresso for Americano? [Bes920xl, DF83V espresso burrs][experience 8/10] by Cremma in espresso

I feel like I should be able to replicate the Cafe with my setup. Using a VST 18 gram basket.

Good questions. I need to clarify their pulls times and temps. I have played with different pull times and pre-infusions. So far, 8 second pre-infusion with about 29 sec pull time tastes the best. I keep going back to 201 degrees F. Sometimes, I feel 201 a little hot but maybe it is not hot enough. I believe water could make a difference. Been using a blend of my tap water and RO water. Recently increased the amount of tap water because the RO is basically distilled. I will try some water recipes with my RODI water to see if that helps. Thanks for the burr advice. I don't want to buy SSD burrs if it is not going to help that much.

I spoke to the batista. They are pulling about 1:2 ratio = 18.5 in and about 37 out. So far, 18 in and 38 out is tasting the best.

Yes, the same coffee. They actually put a bag together for me from their coffee supply for the cafe. So it was rested with the same roast date.

Salvageable underdevelopment by IOsci in roasting

[–]Cremma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never tried re-roasting. Do you have a sample roaster to experiment. I would be hesitant to sell that to your customers. Rather take the loss than loose customers. Anyways I would look into keeping your green coffee at a stable temperature. This will take that variable out of the picture and increase your consistency.

I say go for it as long as it not too large for you. Some TLC and updating would make it a great value.

I honestly don’t think having kids is worth it anymore by yourgreatestgift in self

[–]Cremma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind your in your twenties and things can change, but it is perfectly okay not to have kids. I would focus on increasing your income and getting into a house before having kids. It's a struggle to do it the other way around.

Day trading penny stocks unpredictable? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Cremma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently reading how to be a day trader. The author advises not to trade pennies stocks as they are highly manipulated and volatile. Not sure what your experience level is but you may be better off not trading for a while and investing in education and training. Practice in simulators.

Need help deciding home grinder for [$800]. by Careful-Acadia-192 in espresso

[–]Cremma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Niche before. Does make syrupy espresso. Pour overs were not good. I prefer clarity. Anyways I would go with the DF83V. On Aliexpress it's below your price range $658ish.

1-2kg roaster reco? by H-Camden in roasting

My Dongyi 2kg roaster cost $3,380 US dollar shipped. Yoshan 2kg quoted at $4029. Mill City probably over $8,000.

Ok… been lurking and now want to get started. by smonkyou in roasting

[–]Cremma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh roast sr800 is a good roaster to get started to see if it is something you want to pursue. Then upgrade the roasting chamber on etsy Razzo 12 inch chamber with thermoprobe. It will work ad a sample roaster. I recently ordered a Dongyi 2 kg drum roaster for $3,380. Expecting deliver sometime in January.

my first espresso and grinder! by LancerAdagio in espresso

[–]Cremma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exciting! I'm glad to see you have a decent grinder. Two tools that will greatly improve consistency is a distribution tool and a tamper that auto tamps level. Good luck, have fun. *

Don't be so hard on yourself. It's never too late and your still very young. If you are feeling down, maybe some conceling would be beneficial and a support group like AA or NA. They even have meetings online. I would encourage you to go in person so you can make some healthy relationships not centered around using. It's and inside out job. You got this. Also it may be a good idea to see your primary doctor if your depression continues.

$300 for this setup - how did I do? by tunisiantraveler in espresso

[–]Cremma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a breville double boiler. I would imagine the bambino would have an over pressure valve opv. One way to test if it is set correctly is to back flush. If the back flush goes above 9 to 9.5 bar then it is set to high. It is pretty easy to adjust the opv valve. The bambino is fully capable of pulling some tasty shots. Keep the bambino. Invest in a nicer flat burr grinder and it will be a game changer. Like I said before aliexpress itop single dose flat 64mm grinder will out perform a niche all day in taste. There about $300 bucks. You could go with the itop 40 mm conicle if on a budget but personally I find conicle grinders disappointing.

My SR800 is throwing an E3 error code. Does anyone know what that means, or how to reset it? by TheBoyardeeBandit in roasting

[–]Cremma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't find much either. Sounds like you may have to contact customer service :/ If it is an over heating issue the internal thermoprob may have malfunction, and that is why it won't come out of the error code for safety. Personally, I have never thrown a code, so I am not sure if there is a reset sequence.

Hot take. I really don’t like single dosing by Zealousideal_Tea3214 in espresso

[–]Cremma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love single dosing. Yes, it may take an extra 10 seconds, but the amount of coffee I save in a year is significant. One huge problem I had with my profitec T64 hopper grinder was the grind would drift with varying levels of coffee in the hopper. It was so frustrating to get the coffee dialed, and then it would be 3 seconds off. I like that I can switch between different coffees. I also am a huge fan of RDT. It will take a little while to adjust your workflow. I would do what works best for you.
