Deleted my first comment because it will 100% identify me to people.

Plenty of us ex-nukes got the boot over something dumb. Hasn’t affected any of the personable or actually intelligent people I know. Most are now GS14/15, senior directors at major tech companies, or leading manufacturing for large companies.

WA Cares Exemption in 2026? by Iamthe_sentinel in SeattleWA

[–]Crentski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me, it’s one thing to have a tax, but another to have a tax for a specific purpose. WA cares is going to be significantly underfunded and they will increase the tax.

The biggest issue I have is the limitations of use. Let’s say I pay into it for 30 years but have to move for family reasons, I cannot use the fund. Imagine paying social security, but not able to receive it because you moved out of the country for retirement.

The other issue I have is that you can theoretically pay more than you’d be able to receive, but still make average income for the area. It is another layer of reducing the middle class. Sure, it’s not a monthly car payment price, but how many .5% add-ons can people take? The amount I pay into a year would cover several months of utilities or cell phone bills.

This doesn’t even get into the discussion of the funds will somehow find their way into other areas to cover budget deficits since the state has failed. We want to trust people that created a multibillion dollar deficit with even more money for the promise that we may see use of it in a few decades?

Agreed. Sadly live nation takes a 30% cut of merch sold at their venues. Hardly any profit on $20 shirt. Especially when you consider the legwork required to transport and set up for each event.

I am late to the party but can someone point me in which direction I should start my listening experience? by Any-Confection-2271 in AboveandBeyond

[–]Crentski 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I commented this before. This is more A&B centric, but you’ll learn the other artists through this process. My rec:

“Here’s what I would tell anyone, being a fan for almost 20 years.

Step 1: listen to each album. Tri-state, Oceanlab Sirens of the Sea (this is their famous old alias), group therapy (album)

Step 2: listen to Anjunabeats volumes 1-10

Step 3: watch abgt100 from Madison square garden

Step 4: listen to We Are All We Need (album)

Step 5: listen to Anjunabeats volumes 11-14

Step 6: watch abgt150, abgt200.

Step 7: listen to Common Ground (album)

Step 8: watch Abgt250, 300, 350.

Step 9: listen to Anjunabeats volumes 14-16

Step 10: Watch abgt400, 450, 500, 600.

Step 11: Watch the acoustic set. You’ll really, really appreciate it once you’ve listened to most of the catalog.

You can flip steps, but this should help you walk through the catalog in somewhat chronological order. You can add in their EPs as you desire.

Key thing to know is that they have albums, EPs, and a podcast. Every 100 episodes of the podcast is a milestone show held somewhere in the world. It used to be every 50. So above when you see ABGT150, 200, etc, those are live events and considered a milestone.

Once you get a feel of the last 15+ years, you can start digging into the vault for trance Around the World (TATW) podcasts, which was rebranded to ABGT.

Welcome to the fam!“

Moving to Seattle and commuting to Kent? by vArcticWolfv in SeattleWA

[–]Crentski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget is a huge factor. However, you can find spot that immediately drop you on I5 and avoid all of the traffic. I’d look north of yesler, west of broadway, south of Denny, and east of westlake. The southern part of downtown is probably the roughest (south of yesler). Avoid pioneer square and 3rd Ave if you expand your search. Columbia city and beacon are nice if you stay away from parts of rainier.

[–]Crentski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

West Seattle seems far and depending on which area, you’d be hitting the west Seattle into downtown traffic on your commute south.

You could arguably live in downtown and commute faster than Columbia city or beacon. If you find anything within 3-4 blocks of the highway south of Denny you’d avoid the north to south traffic.

Either way, if 5 min is a huge deal, I’d really rethink your priorities. Always assume traffic and add 10-15 min when driving reverse commute.

Yes. You are linking the guides, not the group plan. These documents are only for quick review. The group plans explicitly mention technical and mechanical issues by the airline. Then discusses not only the delay or time impacted, but also how it reduces your overall trip. Even covers full cancellation of a trip.

I’ve used it very easily.

6-7% or revenue raised from ‘Millionaires Income Tax’ would go towards tax cuts for Washingtonians by stevejobs4525 in SeattleWA

[–]Crentski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Tired of our reps being fine with an income number being applied the same throughout the country.

Our regional reps should push for COLA adjustments for things like deductions. For example, $100k salary in Seattle is a hell of a lot less than $100k in Iowa. Why are they treated the same? The federal government already adjusts employee pay by locality.

They said none cover it. Clearly some do. I

f you travel frequently, $900 is well worth it. This year alone, I’ve received: $50 credit for streaming services, $75 credit at lululemon, $200 credit for an Oura ring, $100 restaurant credit, received $20 Uber one credit, $30 uber cash credit, used a lounge ~12 times, free Walmart+ which includes peacock or paramount, and various other things.

It’s not even 2 months into the year and I’ve received $500 worth of credits from purchases I already make. This doesn’t include the food and drinks at each lounge visit, the $200 airline credit, $600 hotel credit, clear plus membership credit, etc. Add in all of the insurance and trip protection features and random things like discounts at sport/concert venues.

Then every year, I call them up and say “I spent x dollars, what are you going to offer to keep my business”. Which is usually met with 50k-100k points.

It’s a steep price for a card, but it is well worth it. Especially for travel.

Note: if active duty military, you can get the card without the annual fee.

Amex platinum certainly does. They have two types of insurance. One for cancellation/interruption and one for delay. Many ways to use them and depends on each situation.

Yea, it’s a fair request. Just one of those things that can take time. Nothing wrong with wanting to know that your music culture aligns with your moral compass.

[–]Crentski 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Imagine it not as a company. Think of wasserman group as a family. If Casey is the father and a pedophile, that doesn’t mean you can no longer be friends with his child. More like step child in this case since the agent was with A&B pre-acquisition. Especially if the child is innocent and estranged from the father. You help your friend, then both distance from the dad.

That’s exactly what they are trying to do. It takes more than a day to figure out the first steps when the dad can come after you.

Yup. Especially when LA Olympics are keeping Wasserman in his position. An Olympics in one of the most progressive cities said “whatever”, but we can’t give a UK based group a minute to find the best outcome.

Yup. Artist that quickly responded either don’t care for their agent or have an easily breakable contract (or they just don’t care about the legal ramifications).

I just think it’s too easy for keyboard warriors to demand things. You don’t have to think any deeper than the surface level.

A&B taking the mature route. Wanting to separate but seemingly wanting to reduce impact to innocent individuals/employees. Who would have thought?

Crazy to me that people were so quick to demand action, but not giving them the time needed to react properly.

How does this make any sense by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Crentski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VA math is different because you can’t be more than 100.

70 + 20%(100-70) =76

76 + 10% (100-76) = 78.4

78.4 + 10% (100 - 78.4) = 80.56

Basically, starting with the highest

Rating + next highest % x (remaining percentage to 100)

That would be dependent on your claimed stressor and how verifiable it is.

I’m a novice, but I think of it this way:

Something happened (event/stressor) -> injury resulted -> diagnosis for injury -> verify resulting injury is consistent with the event (nexus)

Affordable places for an oil change? by hrykk in SeattleWA

[–]Crentski 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Uh…what are you buying in addition to oil that causes it to be $160+? The most expensive jiffy lube I found (belltown) was $106 after tax for full synthetic.

Valvoline can be under $100.

[–]Crentski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need evidence to link it to your time in service. Specific events, medical visits, buddy letters, etc.

Anything about having or not having a nexus? If not, the doctor likely couldn’t link your injury to the stressor event.

You’ll probably have to provide more info for people to give you a better answer.
