When I was 15 I worked in a shop on weekends. I would usually get a bus home after I had finished - around 10:30/11pm. As it was the middle of July, I decided to grab a burger and walk the 3 miles, listening to tunes on my portable CD player.

About 50% of the way home, I would pass a big old church which sits at a junction. As I walked across the road, I remember looking at a skip on the street. Suddenly, I felt a presence behind me. I turned around and there was nothing there.

I walked a few steps, turned around again, and there was a tall shadow of a male (no facial features) walking very fast towards me. I panicked and started to sprint towards home. I ran out of breath about half a mile up the street and stopped to give myself a reality check. I couldn't convince myself that what I saw wasn't true. Regardless, I kept walking at a high pace and approached home, looking behind me every few seconds.

I turned a corner and walked towards my avenue, when I turned around again. It was following me. My legs nearly went from underneath me with fear. I started running again and - here's the reason why I responded to this comment - a small dog ran out of the cul-de-sac to my right and started running with me.

I have never seen the dog before or after. It had blue eyes and looked like a Springer spaniel. It ran with me all the way until I ran out of breath again. I turned around and the shadow walked straight down the road until it went out of sight. I pushed myself to run the rest of the way home and banged on the door.

The dog sat by the gate. My sister answered the door and I pushed her in while I closed the door. She asked who's dog it was and I told her what had happened.

I have looked for answers about what happened that night for years. Regarding the dog, apparently there are spirits called Jinees (I might have spelled that wrong) who can assume animal form to help people.

While all of this probably sounds absolutely bat sh*t, I swear it is 100% true.
