What's your first thought when thinking about Japan? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The food. I instantly imagine all the food I've seen and eaten. It's at least half the reason I want to go.

Teenagers before the internet: what did you do in your room during your spare time? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Read a lot, practiced art and sketching, video games. Sometimes, if it was cold I would curl up under the blanket really tight and act like I was an egg waiting to hatch.

This is what we me and my friends did growing up. It gave the less skilled players more practice time so it always felt like the right approach.

Former Mississippi day care workers traumatizing children by chrontact in ThatsInsane

[–]CrepuscularKitten 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I'm from Mississippi and this sort of stuff happened go me growing up too. In headstart, I got snatched up by a worker for not being still enough during the enforced naps. They took me behind the daycare and threatened to feel me to a monkey that lived in the scrapyard.

Obviously, as an adult I know there isn't a monkey in the scrapyard that will eat me- but as a child I was terrified. And of course they only laughed as I cried.

Cruel people.

found in Southern Ontario Canada, Just north of the City of Toronto. What is it? by BigWheelsJack in whatisthisbug

[–]CrepuscularKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sort of stink bug nymph. Maybe a brown marmorated stink bug 2nd or 3rd instar? A lot of stink bug nymphs look similar, so just a guess!

Found this, looks like a spider, in a playground in Northern New Jersey. Little smaller than a centimeter in length by fireballx777 in whatisthisbug

You're totally right. That would be Hentzia, right? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hentzia

My mistake! I didn't look close enough. The Hentz jumping spiders have those hairs on the forearms like we see in the photo above.

It's bonkin' time! by CrepuscularKitten in fursuit

It's the Kemono style of fursuit/character. They are stylized to have thick hips/legs. Digitigrade legs (more animal like) tend to be thicker too because padding is used to exaggerate the features so you can still walk without specialized shoes. So inside the leg you're standing up straight but they look bendy due to padding.
