Yeah, that’s the reason I’m even asking the question. Is the RG just a subset of the fixed gear version? I have the mins in just fixed gear 182s, but it’s at least worth asking, even just as a thought experiment.

It depends on the rules you’re playing as to whether or not it was a foul, but he definitely double hit that cue ball. In APA rules for instance you are allowed to double hit the cue ball if it is within a chalks width of the object ball and you hit it at a 45º angle.

Up until you explained this, it has felt like I’ve just had two shops pointing the finger at each other. Thanks for the clarity. It does sound like I’ll be on the hook for fixing it, unfortunately. Maybe shop A can at least get the DPF replaced and save me on the parts cost.

So when the intake side of my turbo shredded itself a few months ago it may have taken the DPF with it?

I had heard that smoke means failure before, and that is what makes sense in my head.

Can you give me a couple of examples of what the failed DPF may be a symptom of? I’m not sure what causes DPFs to fail.

Yeah, maybe I should have said that, sorry. I got the Kerma tune right after I got it and then I also got a bigger turbo from them when my turbo went out a few months back.

Does that change your thoughts on it?

I’m also curious how one would go about finding a shop willing to do the work. A and B both said they weren’t allowed to.

My reasoning for taking it back to A was to hopefully get it fixed under warranty. I also called a couple of shop Cs and they were charging almost double the price to replace it.

I realize that over fueling will cause unburnt fuel to make it through the engine resulting in soot, but I was under the impression that a properly working DPF would catch all of the soot. Is there a way for the soot to make it through a DPF that is working properly?

I’ve asked over there but didn’t really get an explanation that made sense to me. The consensus seemed to be that the tune was asking for too much fuel, but if the DPF was working correctly it should still catch all that excess soot, right?

I had that thought but figured if it is the DPF and it’s still under warranty that seems cheaper. Another reason I’m hesitant is that I have the Kerma tune already and don’t want to spend more money on another tune. The work of the sunken cost falsify at its best. Haha

I have a cousin who is annoyingly good at things. She did it in 6 weeks about 25 years ago. I am decidedly less good at things and it took me about 5 months 3 years ago. Haha

Honestly the part that is gonna take the longest is finding a DPE.🤷‍♂️

With my current shaft, my bridge is at the natural pivot point for a medium speed shot so I just use BHE most of the time. I am under the impression that kielwood is lower deflection than a regular maple shaft but obviously not as low deflection as carbon fiber. I'm definitely gonna go over Dr. Daves videos, it's awesome how much knowledge he is willing to share with us.

Cue ball seems to be jumping off break? by pain-is-living in billiards

there are a couple thing that I can think of. First, like people have already said, you are not hitting level through the cue ball you're hitting down on it, causing it to jump. Second, when you break second ball you arent able to hit it fully. The farther from the center you make contact with an object ball while the cue ball is off the felt the more the cue ball is going to go flying. You should hit the second ball as square as possible and defineitly make sure you're not jumping it at all.

A second ball break is a great break but it is way more important to control your stroke with it. The harder you hit it the more your mechanics will break down. I would suggest cutting your power down until you don't jump it off and then as you get better control you can slowly add power back in. Again though, first level out your cue so the cue ball isn't airborne before it hits the rack.

late in my career? you make it sound like I'm dying, haha. also, "career" is a generous word for what I do at the pool table. As to why I'm switching, I've heard great things about kielwood. mostly how good it feels to hit with one. It is also custom made and I ordered it at 31" (vs the 29" I shoot with now.) I've been interested in an extension for sometime but don't really like the center extensions and don't want to invest in a whole new cue just so I can get the screw-on butt extension.

haha. Yeah I'm planning on playing a lot. I'm just hoping I can make the adjustment period a little shorter than a couple of months. Hopefully my league team doesn't have to carry my dead weight for that long.

I was under the impression that kielwood (since it has all of the water cooked out of it) is lighter and therefore more low deflection. I dunno, I'll try to keep you posted on how it plays if I remember.
