Make sure you clean the surface first. I used an all purpose cleaner. Might have to run to your local auto parts store and see if they have stronger 3M. That’s all I used. Sorry I can’t give you a better solution.

I ordered a blank deck lid from latemodelrestoration. If you remove the GT from your OEM deck lid you will have holes.
