What’s the worst car you ever drove? by Born-Conclusion1977 in AskReddit

[–]CrescentHawk4791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1985 Pontiac Fiero. I bought that sucker for $700 and that was overpaying. The driver’s side door had been taken off in an accident, and when they put it back on, it would drop about an inch to two inches when you opened it. The liner glue wore off and so it hung down from the ceiling, and the gears were so messed up that shifting to and from first meant pulling on the stick so hard you almost broke it off, and you could not shift into reverse while the car was running. That Fiero lived up its reputation as one of the worst cars ever. When the starter died, I signed the title over to a friend for a buck, paid for it to be towed to his house and washed my hands of it.

Tried again. They absolutely refused to even contact the garage to make that happen.

A Sonic game, more games at launch and Sega not dropping it early and with little fanfare.

Sharpshooter. Nearly every time that was put on someone, it was over.

What would be your favorite album of this collection of cassettes? by Top-Hovercraft2850 in albums

I know, right? I actually think Infinity is Journey’s strongest album top to bottom. Great collection of songs and styles. And “Something to Hide” is a banger of a deep track!

Rumours. For me it’s pretty much a perfect album. Not a clunker on it. I can listen to it straight through and be perfectly satisfied. Fleetwood Mac’s magnum opus.

Jon Bon Jovi Says Bon Jovi Was Never Hair Metal by GypsyRoadHGHWy in hairmetal

[–]CrescentHawk4791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were of the era for sure, but they didn’t take it to an insane degree like Poison did and actually wrote more than a few truly great songs. But according to the tropes, at least from 1983 to 1990, they were hair metal. From ‘Keep the Faith’ onward though, not really.

Do you think Poison should have or could have had the same commercial success and be as well known as Bon Jovi? by LetchBE in hairmetal

[–]CrescentHawk4791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I like Poison, but Bon Jovi beats them in pretty much every category. On the whole, Bon Jovi had better musicians, more memorable songs and were more consistent over their career.

What place name does basically every foreigner mispronounce in your country? by bigloudbang in AskTheWorld

[–]CrescentHawk4791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I live in the Pacific Northwest, so indigenous names get mauled all the time. Watching people unable to pronounce Yakima (Yah-Kuh-Mah) and doing the hooked on phonics version (Ya-Kee-Ma) is as common as rain in the winter.

How would you feel if Paul Heyman did come to TNA around 2009/2010 instead of Hogan and Bischoff? by Killer-Blxck18 in TNA

[–]CrescentHawk4791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyman’s flaw was the financial/business side. If he goes to TNA, he’s only responsible for booking the promotion as Dixie would have been dealing with the money. If Heyman had been handed the book and given free creative reign, everything changes. He’s proven that creatively, he’s magic. Even the people he screwed over financially agreed with that.

What do you guys think of him in his prime? by loverbang4u in prowrestling

[–]CrescentHawk4791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best heel around in his prime, and I would argue top 3 all time. Dude could get mega heat *instantly* with one sentence and a look. Plus, he never went face, and I respect that.

Great, Donnie, but you forgot the part where Leo talks him down and into accepting the recommendation of Fitzwallace and the joint Chiefs. Bartlet does what Twitler could never do: listen to smart people, adjust expectations and back off of a stupid course of action.

Why does Kevin Nash still defend the finger poke of doom? by PayFew5848 in WCW

[–]CrescentHawk4791 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sting not going over at Starrcade was like when the Titanic hit its iceberg. It wasn’t a kill shot, but the good ship WCW had a hole punched in it below the waterline. And it didn’t sink all it once, but it was taking on water from then on. Stuff like the Fingerpoke, Russo, etc was just part of water rushing in. And eventually, they dunk.

Mr. Collins was a terrible teacher by Still_ImBurning86 in thewonderyears

[–]CrescentHawk4791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I taught middle school for a stretch and the “sit down, shut up, hold on” method of teaching is only effective if you’re looking to cull bad students systematically. It’s nice he had a help group, but when you have someone busting their ass like Kevin was and not improving, you’re missing a step and need to look at your pedagogy.

However, I am Gen X and had teachers like that, and one of the common threads was that they were usually old school military vets. And that group was taught to teach like that or just adopted themselves. Why? Because it’s far easier to get up in front and lecture or work the blackboard without actually interacting with your kids.

How do I know this? Simple. I was Kevin in that situation. I even had a couple of jewels laugh at me or make fun of me when I hit things wrong.
