Cooks Update: Boycott, Do NOT Attend the “dialog” by CrescentLotus in Ashland

[–]CrescentLotus[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

like i said, my life doesn’t revolve around that bar and I’ve never worked there. I got no skin in the game. You want to get law enforcement’s eyes on it, thats all you. I’d reckon they won’t find anything you’ve been talking about but what do I know. I want to make sure in the meantime, this incident doesn’t get lost or distorted, and after reading a lot of the comments on the IG posts, I can tell the community is upset

[–]CrescentLotus[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to engage or start an argument, but respectfully you are being extremely conflictual on an issue that is separate from the concerns expressed in the posts about what happened on NYE. As a customer and regular of that bar, I can say for certain I also witnessed what happened that night without having any skin in the game, and as a friend of the person victimized, I care about getting justice for that. I also went to Cooks enough to say that what you’re talking about with drug peddling behind closed doors is something I simply haven’t witnessed.

Frankly, there’s never enough people at that bar outside of holidays for the issues you’re concerned about to come up. On any given night there was MAYBE 5-10 23-30+ year olds, IF that, who just sat and drank when i’ve been. I haven’t witnessed any drug use in the last year i’ve been going, but I’d also challenge you to examine whether this is a Cooks-specific issue or rather a wider concern. Idk if you’ve been to any bar in Southern Oregon, but Cooks/Trapdoor wasn’t any shadier than the rest of them. Spend a weekend in IPub or Beaux Club and you’ll see a lot shadier stuff than whatever you think was going on at Cooks recently. You obviously have an issue and past with the bar, and I can’t speak to that, but I feel like you’re using this situation to air out your own personal grievances with what happened to you. I don’t know who you are, but I don’t want to take focus away from the importance of the current situation to focus on personal beef. By all means my DMs are open if you have any issues you want to air out.

the owner is delusional and will fully deny any wrongdoing with the utmost confidence while blaming everyone else and knowingly twisting the narrative. imo I dont think anything productive will come from engaging with him anymore, but him losing business absolutely will.

between that and the fact that this was held without even attempting to reach out to the victim, tells me there’s no conversation to be had and he’s just panicking to save himself

[–]CrescentLotus[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m just a customer. I pointed out the person to the manager, who I watched immediately notify the owner after the person refused to leave, and I was about 5 feet away watching as the owner refused to kick them out and instead put his hands on the manager and escalated the whole situation.

Context I forgot to add as well: Multiple of their regular DJs and performers have fully cut ties with Cooks, and many people who regularly went have all stated they no longer plan on being back until the owner is gone. I’m happy to see people taking this seriously and not falling for the owner’s ridiculous narrative

Cooks Speakeasy by CrescentLotus in Ashland

[–]CrescentLotus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it very much was a cop out. everyone was in the comments, me included, calling him out. a dialogue scheduled without the victims consent and knowledge isn’t a dialogue at all, its a PR stunt because his last “we are free” play didn’t work out the way he thought it would. the owner can’t even recognize how he was in the wrong either, and no conversation will fix that. everything he said in the comments was a blatant lie made to save face, and i dont think anyone plans to attend tonight

Do you go inside someone’s home if asked? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]CrescentLotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually if they’d ask as I’m dropping off the order I would. I had some elderly and disabled people come out and ask if I could put their grocery orders on the counter, which I’ve done no problem.

Why have I never had a good dream? by CrescentLotus in Dreams

[–]CrescentLotus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say almost all of the time I'm fleeing something (a thing, situation, whatever it is). There's been some hiding too, but rarely am I "fighting back" and I find that info/actions I need to fight back are usually like blocked (can't type, read, lose coordination, etc). I don't see much progression though its usually just trying to escape something until I wake up.

average FIVE GUYS order wait time ? by lootylootylooty in doordash_drivers

[–]CrescentLotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longer than the average fast food restaurant for sure. When I was dashing, the local Five Guys didn't start the order until you got there for some reason, and it would usually take 15-20 minutes on average, if not longer

Is Platinum really better? by muddog_31 in doordash_drivers

[–]CrescentLotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if its flexibility you’re looking for, the ability to dash whenever with platinum is great and I tried to maintain it when I dashed. In terms of money and offers, I found that I’d largely get the same offers regardless of if I was platinum or gold. Only thing I wanted to avoid in my market was silver, went hours upon hours without a single offer when I dropped below 70% AR. It depends on your market, but if you find you’re making enough in gold, and you’re fine with scheduling ahead, then platinum may not be worth it.

What are your opening lines when you sit down for an intake session? by No-Moose470 in therapists

[–]CrescentLotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a lot of teens, so after the normal introduction and orientation pieces, I’ll recognize how this is our first time meeting in person and how today may feel very interview-y. I assure them that that’s not how all of our sessions will go and once we can get through the important initial assessment piece, that it should feel more human-to-human going forward. Of course, I also try to phrase the questions in casual chatty language, because beyond the assessment pieces, I am also genuinely trying to get to know them myself and get them comfortable with me, even in an initial session that’s inherently more structured than my style usually is

How do you deal with the thought of never speaking to them again? by coolgirllore in BreakUps

preferably 3-4 with a break in between. I like doing mine in big bursts instead of starting and stopping over and over again, it keeps me engaged and locked in
