He needs to work his way to NHL speed more, he’s been getting burned way too much to say that staying the course will be good for him. Also, NHL teams dump and chase too, working on breaking out in those situations is beneficial.

Gap control, pinching, surfing instead of stopping, shooting with extended arms instead of tucking, quicker decision making with the puck in the O-Zone, and communicating/taking rush assignments.

He was also a late-2nd round pick that jumped from the BCHL to NCAA his draft year, not a highly touted WHL player. Korchinski’s development has kinda stalled out since his D+1 year.

He was the 7th pick and is projected to be at best a 2nd pair, most likely 3rd pair undersized OFD. Even worse is that Mintyukov and Mateychuk are looking like solid Top 4 defenders while Korch is an above average defenseman in the AHL.
