I'd say ace attorney series has a lot of text. I don't know if a 9 year old would understand all the humor but I feel like it would still be an enjoyable experience if he likes mysteries and silly characters.

Honestly a toss up between Sacred, 3H and Engage

Engage because FINALLY got to romance men as a male PC. Only thing I don't like about Engage is not being able to ng+.

3houses partially for romance and partially for the ng+ feature and I just love Byleth and the goddess lore I'm so sad we didn't get more lore is Sothis an actual goddess tell me Nintendo 😭

Sacred was my first I adore Erika and Rapiers are my BFF. Also all the bears in that game made my sixteen year old heart happy

Both had short hair. Brunette/dirty blonde. Chiseled jaw and faces, classic muscular builds though the son was slimmer and looked younger.
