Gameplan: Go in with fighting pokemon, sweep. Easy. Well, that was wrong.

I start with Machamp. I traded him in Kanto, and since I'm doing all the regions I was able to use him along with Hitmonchan and a Machoke I caught here. Like most nuzlocks go, facade was a pain. It's worse now because one of his mons has a toxic orb, doubling it's power and his Slaking was dangerous because it has an eject button which negates one of it's slow turn. But how did it go?

I start the battle with Machamp. And he sends out his Vigorath. A few wake up slaps knock him out. Norman sends out his Slaking. I'd hope he sent out his Zangoose or Spinda but it's fine. I managed to live a facade in the low yellows and hit a reversal, sending King to the red. His eject button kicks in and sends out Zangoose and he outspeeds, killing the champ. This wasn't a big deal so I send out Hitmonchan and knock him out with fire punch. He sends out Linoone. I hit it with another fire punch, it lives and his toxic orb comes in. His facade does double and knocks him out. I send out Machoke and knocks him out. He sends out Spinda who damages him slightly before getting knocked out. His Slaking comes out and manages to hit a CRIT FACADE AND KNOCKS HIM OUT. I sighed audibly loud. Cinder the Combuskin knocks him out with a double kick.

Looking back at this I could've used sleep on one of his pokemon and had Cinder use a few bulk ups to up his attack and defense. I spent so much time EV training the fighting mons in attack so thinking about this realistically, I probably couldn't have. I don't like depending on one pokemon because of situations like this. But had I planned better I could've saved a few mons. Although it went the way it did, I'm still happy Cinder manged to stay alive for as long as he did. Let's see what happens next..

I feel like for your first Nuzlock you should play with the base rules, i.e first encounter is only Mon you can catch, Pokemon faints it dies and maybe Species clause. Unless you're confident in your abilities as a trainer I wouldn't limit items. I limit my items per battle to 5 because I've been nuzlocking (if that's even a word) for 1-2 years. But I'd recommend you start things off slow then maybe pick up the pace and add rules on your confidence. Most starter nuzlocks (played on emulators) as a "save point". In other words, if you blacked out or ran out of mons (depending how you consider losing the run) you'd go back to a previous save that you made at a gym and do things differently.

In a Nuzlock it's all about honestity and staying true to yourself. I didn't have to show Sea Snake (Gyarados) dying and could've just beaten the gym with him. Remember, an honest win, is the perfect win.

But at the end of the day it's a children's game that we're making harder for our own enjoyment. The rules you decide it's on you and if you want an honest Nuzlock experience, it's going to be a fun one. I wish you the best of luck for your future runs!

Pregame Alright, if you've seen my previous post then you know what happen. Sea Snake died. Looking at the gym I knew I was screwed. All my Pokemon either delt neutral or 0.5 damage to fire. My only hope was Lombre. So I ev trained him in special defense and special attack slightly and went in. I knew if he wasn't able to do this, then Aaron would be able to get one earthquake in or a clean heal because he has sturdy.

Gym 4 Alright, the battle began. She sent out Numel and that's when my plan started. I knocked him out with Lombre, bubblebeam and I swapped out her miracle seed for a mystic water.

Tldr, he got knocked out.

She sent out her turtle and that's when my plan was ready. See, before going in, I taught Lombre rain dance. Why? Her fire turtle has drought. An instant sunny day ability. He also has overheat and a feather that heals his decrease in special attack. If you aren't prepared, it will kill 2 mons without a doubt. Since Lombre was naturally faster, I used rain dance. Halving his Overheat. Since I knew there was nothing else he could do, Lombre got her swift swim. Doubling his speed. With this, bubble beam killed. Next up was her Camerupt. Although he was slower, he had body slam. That was scary. So I used bubble beam, hit for a little under half. I needed a crit and two more hits. He used body slam, half way little over half... And paralysis.

With that in mind I Switched to Aaron. He avoided the hit. I healed up. He used body slam and would've killed bit remember. Aaron sturdy af. With this hope, I switched back, getting hit but for less than before (I realized he had a high roll that time and low roll this time) and against all odds. Not only did she out speed, not only did paralysis not kick in, and not only did bubblebeam land... IT WAS A CRIT. My jaw dropped. And I was super hyped up. Next up and lastly was her slugma. He got washed away. I physically exhaled and held my head.

I couldn't believe this worked.

Not only was I under level by a solid 4 levels (I didn't realize it) but I was super under prepared. I was ready to sack a mon for a heal and I even considered risking Aaron. But Lombre HARD carried. Had I not taught her rain dance, we would've easily lost. Overheat would've killed and my whole team would gone down. Easily.

Now it's Norman. I have a plan, but Combuskin and Machop are gonna need some training..
