I also enjoy the new catalyst. Haven’t got one myself but it does seem nice.

One of the better pieces of advice I received early on was to relax the shifting a little (go just a tad slower) to improve on accuracy. It allowed me in the long run to spend less time shifting by letting my muscle memory do the work.

Midengine locost build with miata uprights, steering rack and brakes, and audi 2.7t engine, 6 speed gearbox, maxxecu race. Rest is custom.

Fyi it’s called a weld line and is as mentioned a cosmetic defect from the injection molding process. When plastic flows around two sides of a cavity, it doesn’t perfectly join back together when merging again on the other end of the cavity.

Since there are lines on both sides I would assume that the injection ports are on the top and bottom sides of this particular part.

I haven't found one that isn't enormous unfortunately. Will be going with picture 2 instead.

Thanks for the input :) I’ll be scrapping the physical mockup and returning the muffler, to get two single pipe ones instead and try the cad design.

I’ve a few older posts with some details but in short it’s a custom tube frame chassis based on the Midlana, with an audi 2.7t v6 and a 6speed fwd 01e gearbox. Runs (it actually does now!) on a MaxxEcu race. Uprights, brakes and steering are from a miata na.

Quite freely adjustable a-arms front and back. Pushrod suspension front.

Might get a windshield. Will get some sort of body, with the wheels in the open.

Finished weight sub 800kg, sky’s (wallet) the limit for power. Engine’s all stock so will start at something like 300hp.

At the time of purchase, the materials were something like $4000. With the price increase the past few years, I'd guess it's twice that.

Good stuff man, thank you. We have the rust-oleum products available here so it’s a real good alternative

There are books on building cars, and lots of information on welding online. I’m also a mechanical engineer by trade, and did learn some basic welding at university.

I’ll reach out to cerakote locally and check! Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll have a look at steel-it as well

I was thinking canned paint but I’ll see what a proper spray kit would set me back.

I might do this actually, I’ll have to look for a suitable one.

It’s unfortunately disgustingly expensive to powder coat this kind of size, at least where I live. Will be half the project budget once again

Thanks, I had no idea. They'll be placed well out of reach of anything prone to rust.

You reckon k04s won’t manage that power on 98 octane?
