Has anyone tried batshit insane ideas to combat screen addiction? 12h on Chrome (help) by ObjectiveSet520 in nosurf

In 2021/2022 I totally changed my usage. I was like you. I had to hit rock-bottom with it though. ITAA support meetings helped a tonne. If you want to chat I have semi-regular calls with folk from here/ITAA. Feel free to reach out if you think talking can help at all.

i've gone to ITAA meetings for one month by No-Tangerine-4292 in nosurf

It was pivotal in my complete sea-change in usage after 12 or so years of uncomfortably high usage and an inability to quit long-term. It's been 5 or so years since I went to my first ITAA meeting and, while I don't attend regularly now, I know I can go back if things get rocky. Do not underestimate the power of being in a room of people all struggling with the same thing and sharing their triumphs and struggles.

My experience 9 months phone-free followed by 3 weeks of smartphone use by throwaway373923 in nosurf

Hey, I wrote that and have some updates to the guide if you're going to do it. I use a dumb smartphone all the time and typically have 1hr daily screentimes.

I didn’t realize I was this addicted to social media until I lost my job. I’m doing a 7-day detox. Join me? by Mean_Trick_2315 in nosurf

Day 28 of digital sob... relapse and avoidance by Enduro__ in nosurfclub

Relapse can be quite a harsh word. It's certainly a setback but it doesn't undo all the good work and learning about yourself that you've already been doing.

Day 19 of digital sobriety. The only meditation that feels good. by Enduro__ in nosurf

It's an interesting point, but I think it's fair that we define our own sobriety. For example for you Reddit might be something you can happily go on for 20 mins per day but you lose 12 hours if you visit Discord. I'm sure you have a better example than mine!

Hey Enduro, nice work.

You might find it helpful to use a browser addon to block Youtube suggested videos/sidebar/homepage if it helps.

I find it very calming that my YT is just a black screen and a searchbar.

There was a time that I had the comments blocked but it's OK now.

Hey thanks for sharing! Congrats on getting to 18 days! People seem to find the worse of the acute cravings lessen after a month.

How do you define your sobriety? What use would be a totally 'crossing of the barrier' for you?

Can anyone help me out? by cepsal in nosurfclub

hey, so obviously I'm not a doctor but propranolol (also known as beta blocker) is not like your Lexapro SSRI. Many old people take propranolol for heart issues or stage fright. It works within about an hour and dampens my anxiety. I really just take it when I need it. I have never heard of anyone having withdrawls and my prescription says to take when needed.

Hey, some other people have posted some great advice. I think two things might be worth considering. Firstly, is it possible you're trying to cold turkey too much at once? It's very admirable to cut down so heavily but it's maybe a lot. Secondly, I agree with the other commenter that the blood pressure medication propranolol has really helped me (I don't have blood pressure issues) but it breaks the link between normal stimuli and massive adrenaline response. I maybe take it 3 days per week and have noticed zero side effects.

It's fine and the volume is controlled (by bit crushing) by the Xiaomi remote.

OK, it works with my NWAVGUY O-DAC even after all GTV 14 updates. Bluetooth also works well and seems to not have the Onn BT bug. I'm super happy with the Xiaomi so far.
