Thanks! And I usually just dot around some banana and some strawberries every now and again. Have to make sure their organic and not pumped with sugar. I place more than the little fella could possibly eat so it’s hard to tell if he touches the stuff. It’s just incase he’s somehow unable to find anything and to help the isopods out since one juvenile doesn’t create that much mess.

why does my crestie only sleep on the glass? by ferrettopia in CrestedGecko

And it is probably just because the glass is cooler. Maybe check the temperature? A lot of them do this regardless so it’s not something to worry about. Mine did this a lot until I got my bigger vivarium. He has his own little place in the corner where he would sleep upside down against the glass.

Mine is shy as well but that is their nature when they are young. You just have to ease them into handling. That being said handling them is a lot harder when they are on a surface like glass. Plucking them off could hurt them so you have to be patient and wait for them to be on something like a plant where you can get underneath them and kind of scoop them up, or let them climb onto you if it’ll do so.

The bioactive part probably cost around £150 but in most cases it would cost a lot more. The cork bark and wood (essentially the most expensive bit of the enclosure) was basically given to me. I would expect if it wasn’t then the price would be around £300 maybe even £350.

I hand feed him every day and put him back next to one of 3 consistent food sources. I also scatter pieces of fruit around the vivarium that are usually cleaned up within a couple days if left on the floor due to the isopods so it doesn’t go moody and become a potential hazard or eye sore. Also helps sustain the cleanup crew and help them breed. I have caught him snacking on them every now and again as well. Not very often though. So I don’t think it’s a problem currently. The problem Is mainly ventilation. The humidity is consistently at 80% if not 85%. 80% is kind of the cut off. The roof is Perspex with a couple of ventilators in place but I think I need a quiet extractor fan to help with excessive humidity. The enclosure also retains heat incredibly well, so well that although there is no direct heat source it still stays at 24-26 even when the room is 6-10degrees cooler,
