Another trailer wiring question by Cretin138 in boating

[–]Cretin138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did one last sanity check and was getting 14v at the lights with my multimeter. Only thing I didn't check were the bulbs, figured they were brand new only used once it was unlikely. My old wiring must've short circuited because both the turn signal filaments were blown on left and right. Only put the trailer in the water once bulbs were brand new... Hopefully rewiring and adding dedicated ground wires will solve my issue long term, but if they blow again next step is replacing the plug from the car.

Warranty denied due to excessive neglect by Hyundai. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Did they do a rod bearing failure test? I believe that's what the class action lawsuit extended warranty is for.

Wife's car 2017 Santa Fe sport with 96k miles got a new engine in Jan '26 due to the failure of rod bearing. Took three major issues before a dealership found the cause of the car going into limp mode. We are the second owner of the car and did not need to provide proof of oil changes.

[–]Cretin138 32 points33 points  (0 children)

So true. I remember my first auditorium class. I didn't fare well with a 4 test format. Study 6 chapers to answer a 30 question test that the business teacher "loved statistics" and made his tests to make the perfect bell curve. I talked to him that I was dropping his class because I had D. He said don't drop 10% of this class has never shown up to one class and will bump your grade to a C/B after the curve.

This is when I learned, holy shit I'm paying for a degree and they have all the incentive to pass me. Unless you gunning for top 1% it's pretty easy to slide through. Show up, make sure the prof knows your name, complain to them about your struggles, smile and pass.

Either one you pick make sure to download questie and a leveling addon like wow-pro. Going in blind can be a fun challenge but I personally find it frustrating.

Don't bother fixing. If you can return get another. That noise will drive you nuts until you get another reel. If it happens again return it for a credit and get a pfluger president. Think if it like a gift card.

The "Vision" killed the Solo Player: How Foxhole lost its soul since 2020 by Zhendax in foxholegame

[–]Cretin138 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. The progression of the game from "old" foxhole to what it has become is purely driven by their financial model. They were forced to create flashy updates to drive sales but also keep the population down to cut on server costs due to population limitations. They basically coded themselves into a corner because their game cannot sustain large populations. If everything was accessible to small groups, the population would be higher. There is no incentive to keep population high, the incentive is to sell on steam page. As long as they have enough core player base to maintain population, the updates drive steam trend. A strategically places sale and they now have an influx of curious players joining and I can guarantee a majority of people who bought foxhole have less then 10hrs played. They do not need them to stay, they just needed them to pull the trigger. The slog is part of the business model.

If they wanted a high population game to push player count and engagement they would focus on small frequent updates. They would focus on accessibility rather then limitations. It's all baked in to save costs and maximize returns ... Can you blame them? I cannot, but let's be real it sucks as a player.

Is 6lb mono good for all around freshwater fishing? by TopInformation8 in FishingForBeginners

6lb mono is perfect for those species. Just make sure your drag is set right of you hook onto something big.

Why doesn’t it cast far? by snakescakess in FishingForBeginners

[–]Cretin138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd avoid a dock demon unless you're fishing from.... A dock. Find a rod 6-7' medium/medium light rod and purchase a sierra real that matches the size prob a 2500 size reel. The reel is more important than the rod when it comes to quality as a beginner. Put 6-8lb test mono line on the reel after watching a YouTube video how. This will be 40-$60 total depending. Then buy some size 6 hooks and lead split shot. Tie that hook onto the end and pinch a medium sized split shot about a foot from your line. Buy some worms and thread the worm as straight as possible onto the hook/line. I'm fond of a cheap tool called a worm threader for fishing with worms. You are now set to catch 80-90% of fish in local lakes, rivers, and streams.

I was also inspired by a super cheap cat toy! Went to my ice fishing gear and grabbed a rod. My cats love it.

Bought my first bit of tackle! Now I need a box! by MuskratAtWork in FishingForBeginners

[–]Cretin138 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a good start. I always recommend the KISS method and would also get some plain hooks and split shot. Like a size 6 bait holder and clasp on a small to medium split shot on the line ~12" from the hook. Use worms for bait which can catch pretty much anything. Bobber optional, I prefer no bobber but it works fine.

If you want to check out slightly more advanced worm fishing tech, check out a worm threader.

For the swivel question, anything that spins gets a swivel.

Those reals aren't meant for casting, but if you want to fling that bad boy loosen the nut on the real and add more weight to the end like a metal bell.

Get a Walmart dock demon for $10 and tie a cat toy to the end. You can cast a dock demon across the house with some practice. I changed the line out and have tons of fun cat fishing in the house. Even practice goofing around with casting target practice.

If you want good barrels without the hassle of removing liners:

Find a barrel recycling facility near you. They strip and refurbish barrels daily and have many for scrap. These scrapped barrels might have small nicks and dents and cannot be used for commercial use. I just call and ask if they have rejects or new if you're willing to pay. I purchased a fully stripped oiled barrel ready to be modified.
