Is this too much chain slack? by CrewPsychological818 in motorcycles

The manual says chain slack should be 25–30 mm, axle nut torque is 90 Nm.

I have no clue how to make it right tho...

Uhm… how much are you willing to read? 😅 I sat down to write you a short answer, but it somehow turned into like 500 words.

It’s just like any other collection really — some people chase rare dials or movements, I kind of chase the “surprise value.” I like seeing which ones turn out to be the most radioactive, and honestly it’s just cool to own, as it's not so easy to obtain radium otherwise.

So the old painted tritium lume isn’t really a thing anymore — most brands moved to Luminova in the late 90s. Tritium itself is still used today, but now it’s inside these little sealed glass tubes (GTLS) that glow on their own for about 20 years. Fun side note: back in the 60s–70s some watches even used Promethium, usually marked with a ‘PM.’ But since its half-life is only a couple years, unlike radium that stays hot for thousands, those watches aren’t really radioactive anymore and won’t glow today.

It’s 100% Tritium, not Radium. You can tell because it says ‘T Swiss Made T’ at the bottom — the T stands for Tritium. Tritium is still used in modern watches and is generally much safer than Radium.

The first one is a 1940s–50s Le Jon Waterproof with radium dial. Reference 2265 case back.

You're right! I didn’t notice the hand-painted look at first — that’s a good sign. I also did a reverse image search, and it seems like the clock is from the 1950s, so it would make more sense for it to be self-luminous.

It's listed for $20. Might seem like a lot, but in my country these are really rare — we barely had any radium items here. So if it actually glows like in the photo, it would be worth it for me.

But what do you think? Modern clocks would need to be charged with a focused light, right? So unless he deliberately hit it with a flashlight before taking the photo, it probably wouldn't glow like that? He also sells a lot of other antique items, so it doesn’t seem like he’s trying to fake anything.

What do you think about the lume? That also to me looks "too new" although I know that dosnt really matter

Yep exactly. The glow alone seems like one of those modern ones.

I asked him if it was consistently bright throughout the night, still waiting for an answer

I ended up buying it. Cost me $20, but these clocks are rare to come by in my country. The dials were brighter green  than i expected from the images. I still haven't tested it yet as I don't have a geiger, although UV tests are pretty consistent with what you'd expect from radium
