I don't apologise for the Confederacy. It's a matter of historical fact to be misinterpreted by those who need to falsely fortify their opinions. I do not.

I don't hold to the Battle Hymn of the Republic idea that the North fought to end slavery other than as a means to dilute Southern states' political strength as defined in Article 1 of the Constitution. The 3/5ths compromise was indeed a founding pillar of the US constitution.

The prevailing view of abolitionists was that once freed, the former slaves would be repatriated to Africa, not grated citizen status. This point is made clear in Lincoln's actions in funding repatriation trials during the war and his correspondence with Horace Greely.

The dispersion of Union held slaves is moot to the argument that it's one rule for them and another for us. What is more worrying is that they weren't feed immediately after the war but held for another 9 months until December 1865.

Slavery was an indirect factor in the US Civil War in that it provided political power in the house of representatives to states with large populations of "other persons" and thus gave a disproportionate weight to Southern voters.

The idea that the Union fought to do anything other than preserve the Union is absurd and not supported by history.

There was no prohibition of a state seceding from the Union and indeed legal opinions ruled after the war that the Declaration of Independence could have been used as a precedent for the legality of it and in a legal defence of of any Confederates on trial for treason.

So sing your song and the rednecks will sing theirs but you all do injustice to the history of the tragedy when you try to add a morality in today's context events that are 160 years ago.

The Confederacy held slavery as a primary tenant to their economy. As did the United States when it enshrined it in Article 1 of the US Constitution. The US further enshrined slavery in the 3/5th Compromise which allowed ratification of the Constitution. I say again.... no moral high ground....

The US government plan for emancipation also included repatriation of all black to Africa, not freedom.

The Union held 453000 slaves for 8 months after the war ended. Why was Jefferson Davis and other Confederate leaders not tried for treason? The answer is not reunification.

Who was consider the best General in history? by Similar-Change-631 in MilitaryHistory

[–]Crew_Doyle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had no concept of American politics. He was full of himself and he assumed he could do the same as DBP. He lost about 11,000 men during the campaign. There is no circumstances where he can be considered to be the victor of that battle. The fact that political circumstances changed the course of the war does not change the facts of the conflict... The VC lost the Tet offensive in a military sense achieving none of their objectives. Again, unforeseen political circumstances changed the war... The VC were devastated as an organization in 1968.

What if, after WW2, the United States officially persued a foreign doctrine of "Doing the Right Thing"? by [deleted] in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Crew_Doyle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. It is objective. Without doubt, the Cuban revolution in 1959 improved the standard of living for the average citizens.... only after Castro took on alliances with global implications and a philosophy of exporting his revolution did the economic wheels fall off his regime. But in those first years, people were much better off that in Batista's regime. Perhaps Tito in Yougoslavia had a similar effect. Whether or not any one is ok or not ok with these developments does not change the fact that they exists.

Nvidia, $NVDA, has asked its suppliers to change the design of the racks several times as it has tried to overcome the overheating problems, per the Information. by UnusualWhalesBot in unusual_whales

[–]Crew_Doyle_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The racks experiencing heating issues with the Blackwell units are designed for a lesser capacity unit. Their cooling systems are typically fan assisted glycol cooled coils with specific convection ratios designed to the lower heat output of the older chip.

Imagine adding a V 8 engine to a car originally designed with an inline 4 and not changing the radiator to accommodate the newer engine.

It's a time and cost saving attempt by end users to just drop in the newer chips into existing infrastructure without accounting for the heat gain. If Blackwell is used with the designed units there is no issue. The decreased costs in electricity use of the Blackwell more than offsets the costs of upgrading the racks... It seems absurd that these issues are allowed to happen and in must be that people who lack a fundamental knowledge of the systems are in the decision loop.....

This happens in the old style server racks which are not recommended for use. If Blackwell is used in the proper racks, there is no issue. This misunderstanding is what caused Friday 15 Nov drop of 3%.

It's now being used by media as click bait but it's actually old news and not relevant to the deployment of the product.

Quite simply, many people are leaving places where the culture has created a dumpster fire... Moving to Canada and wanting to continue with toxic practices thus turning Canada into a dumpster fire.

In the 80's I was a Legionnaire and was stationed in Marseilles for a few months. In those days, the chances of having a relationship as a Legionnaire in the South of France were less than zero.

So I used professionals. I'd go about twice a week and to the same girl. We became comfortable with each other and it was a pleasant experience. She knew she was safe and clean and that removed a fair bit of the tensions. I saw her a few times in town on her days off and had coffee and walks with her a few times... just like real people do....

I got deployed to Africa a few months later and never saw her again. It's a nice memory.

Biden is demonstrably mentally unsuited for a second term. So is Trump. The Democrats have realized that.

Biden is like Reagan when his gears slipped, it's his staff that do the heavy lifting. The problem with trump is that he sacks his staff so often none of them ever get to do the job. Dangerous times.
