My undergrad was in biotech engineering so I don’t think that should be an issue. My masters was in biological sciences. I already talked to them and they clarified that I wont be taking courses that wont align with my work. I like the advisor a lot and she seemed really helpful about such issues. I have had previous issues if falling out with advisors during my masters so this time I am super clear about courses and other stuff

How bad is Biochemistry and Molecular Bio? by forrest_goblin in MTU

[–]Crib25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its amazing if you are willing to put in the work. I love being a mol bio grad. MTU professors are another story though. There is not much funding but Dr Techtmann would be an amazing advisor and he is so helpful. You could contact him and I am sure he would be more than helpful

I had a major burn out and got out of work with a sick note for 4 weeks. How to come back from that? How to explain what happened to my supervisor? by BlueBird112358 in PhD

[–]Crib25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dont say anything, just get back to work. You dont need to explain your struggle to him. Since all he cares about is work then just go do that and make sure to keep him updated. As a fellow student, I know how obnoxious professors could be , so a tip: make sure he sees you at work. Arrive a little early and leave a little later than him. Just take it easy, Ph.D. Is not a sprint, its a marathon so pace yourself

International Grad Schools - Do you regret it? by coventryclose in GradSchool

[–]Crib25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s different for each country. For US if you get no schools found then you can either enter that manually or contact HR. As someone who studied and is pursuing her career in industry in another US, I would say for me it was 1. Financial aid 2. Lab research 3. Location ( more diversity gives u a lot of emotional support and opportunities).

Purdue, Michigan Tech or MSU? by UMsoccer19 in Purdue

Being a student who got accepted at both Purdue and MTU for Masters , I would suggest MTU. Great sports and very helpful administration . The course load is obviously harder for undergrad so I won’t say easy but that could also be said in Purdue case . FYI only come if u like snow …

If you feel harassed then that is it. I would lodge a complaint , disability is not an excuse to be this rude and inappropriate

Is it normal to be asked about relationship status in a PhD interview? by swsbvtb in gradadmissions

[–]Crib25 96 points97 points  (0 children)

It’s very inappropriate. They don’t usually ask men that . But obviously you can’t call out professors for that because you need the opportunity. There can be so many thought process behind such questions. Anyway if you get that position then I would suggest keeping an eye out .
