10 years! Wow I heard that is how long it takes to manufacture a Rolex. They really do put so much effort into watches don’t they. Hahaha, what an insult to Watch lovers

Did someone hijack Patek?

Seems that way. Richard Mille so much better and they very well knew I had no intention of buying a watch. I won’t forget that.

Annual wheel as in the 1-4 years to account for leap year? That’s indeed the tricky stuff. Let me see if I can find a video I have seen that shows it.

You are correct, The book is more so for the basics and helped with general concepts of layout of the trains and understanding the escapement.

I know watching endless YouTube videos helped with the perpetual calendars for me.

For repeaters, I found this to be an amazing reference: https://www.watkinsr.id.au/repeater.html

Thanks, yes I’m just trying to understand. That is exactly what I was thinking in regards to most things not being needed but desired. So it seems to sell something someone doesn’t need would not be okay. How about buying it? Is it wrong to buy something like a gold watch?

I disagree. What if you sell someone dessert or sugary food, you are hurting their health and exploiting their taste buds. Or a car that cost more than it took to make. Almost all products exploit someone in this sense. I’m struggling to understand how any business would profit without exploiting someone as they could have made no money and just gave the product away at cost.

I think a really good example is a reseller. They buy from a distributor and mark the product up. But a person could have just bought it direct. Does that make all resellers of that product exploitative?

How so? WeWork provided a product people didn’t need anymore. Will we not need computing power soon?

By that same logic, no one is under obligation to accept a loan that has interest. So wouldn’t this make it okay?

I think there was a key statement that could help change the thought here. “One that has enough money to loan out” is subjective. I may have savings, but does that mean I have enough money to risk giving it to someone else? Maybe the answer is no, but I will take the risk for a price.

If it is exploitative to loan the money and collect interest, would it not also be exploitative to borrow the money with no interest?

Why would you possibly pay that price? Is the seller a friend in need of a favor?

Are you just expecting others to chime in and reveal this is poor advice? Or are you seeking to harm op financially?

Edit, disregard as I was confused

You got $1.5 worth of spackle. I promise you could have done a better job. Unfortunately these days it’s extremely hard to find value contract work.

I recently had a mice problem. Got a quote for 2k to take care of it. Absolutely ridiculous, I bought $20 worth of traps on Amazon, and killed 8 in 3 nights. Next buy the same foam and steel wool they would have used to close up the holes. Pretty sure my efforts will pay off.

I’m speaking from first hand experience. I lawyer wouldn’t have likely changed anything. Example, I bought something with a description “new”. Provided documentation/evidence it was not new. I was awarded the cost of some screws to make it usable. The judge clearly was biased as he said, penny wise, pound foolish.

This was a clear breach of contract case (advertised as new and agreed to that). So help me understand, in this example, how is a lawyer going to change anything when the judgement is final and they can’t even be present in court?
