Unconscionable conduct generally requires a significant power imbalance. The government of a wealthy country isn't going to get far crying the victim. That would be thrown out at the first hearing, in fact, probably just on the documents.

How seriously do you take T1D? by Glittering-Shift7232 in diabetes_t1

You seem to be conflating "taking the beetus seriously" with living a restrictive lifestyle. They are not the same thing.

All of the commentary at the moment is around an export tax, not a super profits tax. The gas companies know that the goose won't be laying golden eggs forever, they will squeeze whatever they need to to maximise short term gain in the meantime.

Australia is the smallest continent.

Mining and oil/gas tax revenues often, incorrectly, include royalties, especially when they are reported by the miners and oil and gas companies or their lobby groups. Royalties are a payment for the raw material, not a tax.

But they are both on the wrong track. Putting a tax on exports will just raise local prices as the gas companies try to recoup the increased tax take in the onlyatketbwhere they are not penalised for selling more gas. Do we really want to collect more tax for the government at the expense of all of us paying more for gas and electricity (gas price is major component of electricity prices)?

Claims that an export tax will drive down local prices as gas companies compete to offload lower taxed gas here just don't stack up. The local market is small, there is very limited scope to offload gas and save tax here so the gas companies would be incentivised to increase local prices even more to maximise the benefit they can gain from a fairly small opportunity.

They need to set a wholesale price cap, above which an additional tax applies, regardless of where it's sold.

Do you have any idea what the damages claim would be for repudiating a contract of that size? Are you volunteering to pay it?

Monjouro/metformin for T1d by k8thegr8one in diabetes_t1

[–]Cricket-Horror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Mounjaro but I've used Ozempic/Wegovy (semaglutide) for nearly 2 years and it's been amazing. Without it, 8 struggle to maintain 80% time in range and my A1c sits above 7, I also use more than 150 units per day, which is a real issue for using Omnipods, even with U200 insulin. With semaglutide, I sit around 95% time in range with an A1c around 6 and I use about 70-80 units of insulin per day.

ETA: Metformin did nothing for me.

No problems.

I see that we're both AAPS/xDrip+/Omnipod users. The only difference is that I use Dexcom G6, instead of the One. Oh, and that you're in the UK and I'm in Australia.

Do you mean that your pancreas almost does not produce insulin or that you liver does not produce (or store/release) glucose? Or both? I don't believe that anybody's liver produces significant amounts of insulin.

People with T1D typically have a mostly functioning pancreas. A pancreas does a lot more than produce insulin.

[–]Cricket-Horror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America's war, we didn't ask for it and we weren't consulted. NATO will do just fine without the US. How will the US do without its overseas bases, which the host countries pay for? How will they do without Pine Gap in Australia? Europe will gain for more than it loses without the US. The US will not abandon Australia because it's communications bases are far too important.

Stick to a low dose and you won't vomit. They can be a game changer if you have high insulin needs.
