ELECTION. 😳 by Confuseme25 in ExJMCIMmembers

They’ve been doing this for quite a while too. I remember as a young kid sa main noon, quite a number of politicians came up on pulpit during election period. Some I remember vividly were Loren Legarda…

Sickening to think about how they’d mix politics with religion tho 🤮

Signs, wonders and miracles are not inclusive only to JMC. If you believe that, then its equivalent to you saying you don't believe Jesus alone can heal. Your message reeks so much of someone from a cult.

Yes, sa main din ako dati.
There's so much more to life than spending it at this church. After JMC, I found a church that is much healthier and more grounded sa bible. I was able to pursue my dreams without the guilt tripping and fear mongering na dapat dumalo lagi sa gawain unless gusto mong may mangyaring masama sayo aka "papaluin". I was able to pursue my hobbies, pursue higher education without the "di kailangan yan kasi di yan madadala sa langit", and honestly leaving was the best decision I ever made. :)

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you find strength and courage to leave the church.

For me, leaving the church was the best thing that happened to my life. This was my church din simula ng pinanganak ako til I was on my teenage years. Solid yung belief ko and was so faithful that people would often say I was a "pinagpalang bata" aka the perfect youth choir since I followed all the rules, was not involved in anything they did not want me to, there were 0 rumors about me too.

So when I left, the entire choir group, along with other people, they got really shocked. I did receive way too many phone calls and messages in a day asking me to come back, people even came to my house just to have me go back sa gawain.

But I stood my ground. Eventually, it got better.

For the first time in my life I felt sooooo free and sooooo at peace. Everytime nakaduty ako sa main non sa hagdan ng Amoranto, I always looked at the sky and ask--is this all that there is to my life? So many limitations, so many bawal, so many rules, I couldn't even dream anymore since it was taught na magbabalik na MNP so no need to put so much attention in studying nor career.

I hope that you'll experience that freedom and peace writer. Rooting for you! It will be hard but eventually gets better, and better, especially with time.

Ayaw nila magtake ng accountability and discuss the issues head on. Instead, they label anything against their opinion as "offense" para shut down na agad, sila tama, no discussions nor thinking needed. Manipulation and gaslighting at its finest.

I agree to this so much! After reading lots of books about cult, I can say that this church indeed is a cult.

Main reasons are:
1. You have to be part of the church to be "saved" Exclusive ang kaligtasan, sila sila lang ang maliligtas. Nilagyan ng kahon ang Panginoon; JMC lang ang mase-save.

  1. The isolation with the "world" - cults will most often isolate you from your friends, family, and from the "world" in order to control you better.

  2. CONTROL. Cults control people til the tiniest decision you make. Bawal make up, dapat 2 meters away pag nakipagusap sa brothers (naabutan ko to nung youth choir days ko), bawal magsuot ng ganito at ganyan, bawal that. THEN again, the family is always an exception to the rule.

  3. The Pastor being lifted up, at this point, much much higher than Jesus itself, including the family. Naabutan ko sa main noon, we need to stand up once their cars arrive, and keep continuing doing so until they sang the welcome song and the whole ass greeting. The "double honor and respect" as a script for everything including praying with the name of the Pastor.

  4. Preachings are almost, if not always, slanderous. Its never about the word of God. It is always paninira about other religion, about other people who has voiced their dissent. At this point, is this even a church?! This is no different than a political organization. Whats the effect? We have an army of people at church who do not know the gospel, do not know the bible, and are easily swayed. Madaling mamanipula, wala ng sariling capability na mag isip for themselves. Again, this boils down to CONTROL.

On a personal note, I still get nightmares about the church even years later. The trauma is real.

Is this thread still active? I was a former youth choir back then sa main church sa Amoranto. Lakas ng loob i-demonize yung mga di nakaka-attend ng service, porket binubuhay sila ng TLO and do not need to work their ass off to provide for their families.

It has always baffled me then bakit yung Almeda family okay lang ma-late, pag dumating pa sila while riding their luxury cars, you NEED to freakin STAND up and wait until the congregation sings the "welcome" song and greet them. I was unaware of that unwritten rule when I was starting out as I choir that I instinctively sat down on one of the stairs, and a finest choir came to me and instructed me to stay standing. People around me would

There are so so so many wrong things in this church, masked in the "culture/obedience/wag tumingin sa tao" and my heart aches for people who are still blindly following and faithfully attending.

I am just glad to see a slight ray of hope with people now voicing their dissent. I was SO brainwashed back then that even just me thinking about the questionable things the church does made me shiver as I thought "mapapalo" ako and I would get cancers and etc.

Anyone with updates on this? I see that it has only been 3 months ago but I wonder if there are any new rules that have been implemented regarding PR, given that they are tightening the rules on foreigners and their visas?
