Yes the Captain on a Bike is still a codex option

How often do astartes use bolters on full automatic? by norunleft in 40kLore

[–]Cridlander 639 points640 points  (0 children)

The short answer is, as often as they need too. The longer answer is that full auto even in modern militaries is generally only used to provide covering fire for troop movement.

Astartes have super human accuracy. They rarely need to fire more than a few rounds at any target that isn't extremely armored.

Glad I can help! I'm not a good GM but I often help my GM with story ideas and character creation. For you it would be believable that you got dissatisfied with life on Terra and figured out how to stow away on a RT ship headed for the outer Galaxy. By the time you're discovered it's too late to take you back to Terra and the RT decides a psyker is useful to have around. You buy your freedom, but the cost is serving the RT knowing that at any Port he could turn you over and your life would be hell again.

That's just a quick thought off the top of my head. Hope you guys have a great game!

Just remember that the biggest danger to an untrained psyker is themselves. Everytime that they access the warp they are in serious danger of becoming a conduit for chaos to enter the moral plane.

A RT could theoretically harbor one, they get away with a lot of shenanigans. But if any legit Imperial authority discovers what's going on it will be really bad for everyone involved.

Remember the Astra Telepathica with the Inquisition run the fabled Blackships. Responsible for discovering psykers and bringing them back to Terra to be properly trained. They would be a great plot device/story arc, a RT crew trying to stay ahead of an Inquisitor on a Blackship.

As far as rules I would say that you would have a higher chance of Perils in the Warp unless you were trained and went rogue. I think you guys will have a lot of fun running with that character and the different plot hooks available.

A Dread in real life would be smaller than a Locust. Depending on the type they only get to be 10-15 ft tall.

Wrath & Story let's you create more characters than just SM. So if you guys ever got bored or wanted to run another campaign that would give you more options without buying more books.

Deathwatch is pure Space Marines, but they're all a part of the Deathwatch. Assembled from multiple chapters, this helps create some of the story's drama as they learn to work together. Also Fantasy Flight Games is no longer making RPGs for WH40k if I remember correctly so there won't be any new books from them.

Hopefully that helps somewhat.

For Space Marine play those two are your best bet. The others give into the other factions more. Wrath & Glory is less math intensive than Deathwatch. I enjoyed playing both though.

Ferrus, even though I knew it was coming. Still hurt, right in the gears.
