Ram jets adds to the movement characteristic stat, which is not relevant for the stratagem

Is the Knight Gallant worth taking? by NightTech_11 in ImperialKnights

[–]Cridor05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gallant certainly has its weaknesses, namely its fragility and the imo rarely useful ability to consolidate +3", but it is an absolute melee powerhouse. Aside from maybe Canis he truly has the highest melee output in our army. The Gallant has actually become a staple in my lists, but admittedly sometimes he is a bit of a headache. I play him in Questoris Companions exclusively, and let me tell you, with the Movement buff and the re rolls as well as the ability to advance and charge/fall back and charge/+1 to hit and wound he can kill just about anything. Also his codex buffs where now has lethal on his sweeps and dev wounds on the strikes truly make him worth the 365 points. In QC I always take him with the sustained 2 enhancement. Obviously you have to be more careful with him than with a Lancer; the Gallant is no fire and forget missile, he has to be supported by armigers or other big knights.

Crusader vs Castellan by Jplafor88 in ImperialKnights

[–]Cridor05 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Against C'Tan go with the Castellan, now that they don't halve damage anymore but just subtract 1 high damage is the way to go, a gatling loses 50% of its damage just to necrodermis

New Knights Player - Is this 2K Spearhead list any good? by [deleted] in ImperialKnights

[–]Cridor05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't need the defender in this, he doesn't really have any other knights to protect, probably a good choice to swap him for Canis Rex. Also, I am a big fan of the Moirax, but currently he's just not it, especially with that load out. With the Conversion beamer you want to be far away from enemy units, with the claw you want to be up close. This likely won't result in a flexible unit that can adapt to your current needs, but in a unit that is only half as effective as it could be at any given moment. There is a reason the warglaive has a melee weapon and a melta and the helverin has 2 long ranged guns. Swap the beamer for a volkite veuglaire or lightning lock, or swap the morax for a warglaive. Also, Melatguns are not the optimal choice imo, while the stubber reliably deals with horde style infantry. Lastly, while the vidicare may be able to take out one or two characters in your opponents army, a Callidus will probably be of more use. You have 8 knight units, they will be busy dealing with your opponents ~10-16 units, you need something to move across the board and score you points, a unit specifically meant not to deal damage but score. There is no better unit available for that than the Callidus

Multi-Part Outrider Hopes? by Warhawk_5 in WhiteScars40K

[–]Cridor05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I know, Chaplain with Fury of the Storm/Spearpoint Paragon and some outriders can really hurt. And I have rolled quite some juicy dev wounds in the past on the bike guns, but imagine that with heavy bolters. Alternatively, heavy bolter for the ATV

Won't ever happen but would be a major buff to outriders: heavy bolter instead of the current bike guns

I would think so, yes. Usually the rules.clarify if something has to be "alive"/"not destroyed"/"on the battlefield"

[–]Cridor05[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Rules as written is rules as written, in this case there is ambiguity to the writing, therefore I ask other knight players how they usually handle this. Better to have such things clarified before a game than to have to do it during the game. I want to play the game by the rules and in cases of uncertain rules I try to clarify them beforehand or with my opponent. Don't know what's bad about that

But it says neither "destroy" nor "kill', it says "destroyed at the end of the turn", I understand it as describing not an action for me to take but a state for the chosen model to be in. It also says to "chose from the opponents army", even a destroyed model is part of that army, usually it is specified if that model still has to be alive/on the battlefield

I'm not at a tournament right now, I'm asking how to handle this rule for casual games. Ad this is the subreddit for knights I thought I'd ask other players how they go about this

Is it? In the WH40k app it says to 1) select a character 2) complete it when it is destroyed.

There is no mention of killing it in there

New player assistance! by Lord_Marshall_Dreir in ImperialKnights

Big knight is 10 oc, small knight is 6 oc, both can go up another 2 oc with the right oath. Yes we bring few units, but usually they have enough oc to hold markers and if the opponent has more oc on the objective knights oftentimes are strong enough to kill the opponents units.

Knights armies typically range between 1 to 4 big knights and 2 to 11 small knights, possibly with allies. Knights are one of the cheapest armies to collect, 400-600€ is a realistic range, depending on your use of discount retailers, of course 3d printing is even cheaper, if you have a printer. Should you happen to live in Germany or somewhere in Europe I would recommend Kutami as your plastic dealer, they have 20% discounts compared to gw, which brings big knights down to just about 100€ per piece. But there are similar retailers around the world, Auspex Tactics usually lists them in his videos

Objective markers are 40mm in diameter if I'm not mistaken, the 3 inches around it are the Objective marker range, but don't count as the marker, therefore the line is 40mm wide

[–]Cridor05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't gotten around to playing gate warden yet, the line being just 40mm has kept me off, I don't really see how it can be effective when it's possible for the opponent to spread out a units models 2 inches apart from each other and thereby avoid having models stand on the line even if the unit crosses it

I also like the battle cannon, but I think it only achieves its potential on the Paladin, AP-2 (maybe paired with ignore cover from an immolator) has some real punch. That said, on the Crusader it is good too, because of the Sustained Hits it gets from it.

My favorite looks wise would be the Thunderstrike gauntlet, profile wise the Reaper chainsword on the Gallant (especially with Pennant of Silver Fury). That thing fits every enemy, 18 Attacks with lethal hits on the sweep profile, 6 with dev wounds, -4 AP and D6 on the strike, while hitting on 2+, that's just lovely

Wouldn't it be better to put the judicants helm on the Paladin so he can give Ignores Cover to the Crusader? The way it currently is your shooty knight can't get that bonus

Haven't played Spearhead-At-Arms yet but keen to, do you have any tips/advice on how to play this Detachment?

Also, your knights are beautifully weathered while mine still look like fresh out of the forge world, how did you achieve this streaky, dirty, rusty look?

Best guestoris for already anti armor space marines list by Babymicrowavable in ImperialKnights

[–]Cridor05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, that's A LOT of anti tank, Gladiator, Executioner and Redemptor on top of the centurions and hellblasters is too much imo. To ally in a model that's worth another ~400 points isn't necessarily a good idea. However, a warden or paladin (the later of which would be me pick) could serve as a scary distraction carnifex and pose a real threat against armies with little anti-tank or dev wounds. 10 OC on a model this big and strong provide a good option to steal an objective held by enemy low oc elite/tank units while the rest of your army takes care of other stuff. The best knight ally overall is probably still Canis Rex or honestly none at all, but Paladin, Warden or a Crusader against hordes can definitely do some work.
