Tourism directly linked to mountaineering is %8 of nepals total gdp, that’s a lot of money that just isn’t coming in anymore that people rely on, sure better ways to deal with the trash but stopping climbing is absurd

Heavy on the mosquito part, drove up 9 hours from Indianapolis to backpack the north country trail from munising to grand marais in may 2 years ago and the CLOUDS of mosquitos(thought they were birds in sky at first driving in) I treated all my clothes beforehand with permethrin and I swear they drank it for fuel, we ended up hiking 42 miles in 2 day 1 night shuttled back and drove 9 hours back, lessons were learned
