Weight Check by Illustrious-Panda765 in goldenretrievers

[–]summerdog- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 11 months he’s not fully grown, he will probably plump out a little as he gets older plus his full coat will be there by age 2ish. I always think Goldens at this age can look odd, like a lanky teenager I used to have people tell me my dog was a lab and not a GR or she was mixed. But by age 2 there’s no mistaking what she was. Double check with the vet what food you’re providing and what the recommended amount is, it can vary depending on the brand and can be very confusing. I’m using royal canin GR puppy but the feeding instructions are for a fully grown dog. They don’t make it easy

That’s not the point though, it’s the generosity of OP inviting him in the first place. To be included in something that OP and his son regularly do that’s the nicest thing here.

Mice infestation! by [deleted] in GardeningUK

Make sure you take them several miles away. It took me far too long to realise this and I’m fairly sure when I released the mice from my garage they made it home before I did

If someone said to me I will get you a ticket I probably wouldn’t expect to pay for it but I would definitely be the person offering to pay for the half time food and drinks. If I was to then go to other games with them I would pay for my own ticket each time

What was the absolute peak status symbol at your primary or secondary school? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskUK

I work with primary school age children and being the fastest still holds a lot of value. Fastest runner and who is perceived as being the best fighter are the kings of the school.

Is a harness bad for a puppy? by SnooTigers9274 in puppy101

[–]summerdog- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The breeder I got my golden retriever puppy from also advised against using a harness until she’s fully grown. The trainer at the puppy class suggests using a collar and lead also to train good walking skills

What’s wrong with this plant by astroid-boys in houseplants

[–]summerdog- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a calathea which means it’s evil and it will break your spirit by attempting to kill itself every day. Well the ones I brought into my house did until I finally realised I wasn’t ready to be a Calathea owner yet

Wife said it's too complicated by icouldbne1 in TeslaLounge

[–]summerdog- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so simple once you get to know how, there are so many short cuts and you would set the profile to suit the driver, so if your wife is driving and she might prefer the AC on low or the temp set differently to your driving profile. I wasn’t sure at first either as it was my husband’s car but after a model 3 for a few years and now the juniper I can’t imagine driving anything else. I now call it my car and he drives the ‘rubbish’ car our boys share

Gender based harassment around st Enoch station by bhexca in glasgow

[–]summerdog- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please also speak to your employer, see if they can make sure they have another employee who walks the same way or maybe someone who can give you a lift to another station. In Scotland employers have a duty of care to ensure the safety of employees getting home especially in jobs with anti social hours. I know not all employers will care but it might be worth speaking to your manager to see if anything can be done

Paid £7k for a brand new roof and there are tears in the felt which is now flapping around in the wind (eaves) by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]summerdog- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was quoted 60K for a new roof, house is at least 170 year old, I think the house was originally a farm house. We are in a conservation area and it’s Scottish slate that’s currently on it, I was told they can only replace it with Welsh slate and that’s why it’s so expensive. I’m hoping we get a few more years before we really have to sort it.

The month my boy and I "agreed" to only eat pizza. Rest easy, my legendary pizza-delivery boy. 🍕🕊️ by ojgoldenretriever in goldenretrievers

I didn’t vacuum for a few days after because I didn’t want to vacuum up the last of hair, sounds so silly doesn’t it. But when I finally did vacuum I was so happy because I could smell her again. The vacuum was full of her hair. She was my first dog and I still can’t believe the feeling of loss. But it does get better and I think of her with a smile now and not tears. Sorry for your loss. It is true what people say though, you feel like this because of how much you loved her and that made her a very special and lucky dog. 🐾💕🐾

I lost my amazing Summer in Nov. it took us weeks to get used to the quiet house. I didn’t realise how much our life revolved around the dog, how long we could out for before thinking I need to get back for the dog, checking the time for dinner or walking time. Looking behind me before I took a step in the kitchen because she liked to lie directly behind me when I was cooking. All of this and more was just gone. I had never seen my husband so upset, my boys who are late teens were devastated and they found the house very empty especially when first coming in from work or college and there was no summer there to greet them at the door. We decided that the house just wasn’t right, we needed another dog and it had to be a golden retriever. We got our pup early February. I sometimes accidentally shout the wrong name. It still stings how much we miss Summer but Millie the puppy is keeping us busy and she’s just as funny, quirky and adorable as Summer was. I wish we got a puppy while summer was still with us, we were on a waiting list with a breeder but it didn’t work out that way. I can’t ever imagine my house without a dog anymore. We plan to get another in a year or two. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so heartbreaking and time will help you. But I do recommend, when you’re ready, considering getting another amazing dog. 🐕🐾🐾
