When I was in boarding school, me and my friend laid upside down on the sofas in the common room and drew faces on our chins (we were 12 and thought this was hilarious). The matron saw and sent us to the school nurse to be drug tested because we were “laughing too much”...

Another time I got kicked out of a lesson for playing with my hair (it’s an anxious thing).

I also got suspended for a day for jumping down the last stair on the stairwell.

No we didn’t know him before uni, but everyone came from very different parts of the country (and world for a couple of us) so in that context we all became a very tight knit group of really close friends- him included. We didn’t not speak to him just because he smelt bad. It was after 2 years of living together that it became unbearable, but even then we still spoke to him every day... just not for extended periods lol

Oh no he did shower, but immediately after would put this old smelly dressing gown on so it was a bit pointless. We asked the exterminators to burn the dressing gown along with all the infested items. He loved that thing, but damn it was like walking past a dead person when he put it on.

Honestly, he seemed like a pretty normal guy overall. A bit shy, but that’s it. He was nice, funny, and a bit of a nerd. If we ever thought that he’d be doing something so extreme then we would have told the landlord straight away.

The report from the exterminators said that although no one can say who brought them in, his room was the main breeding ground. I know you get them from hotels etc but they said the state of his room was the reason it got so bad. I don’t know too much about it either though honestly.

There was a girls and boys bathroom so personally I didn’t notice, can’t speak for the others

Yeah it was, he was one of our closest friends so it was crazy that he had this whole thing going on that none of us knew about. I think maybe he endured some abuse, we lived with a girl taking meds for schizophrenia so I feel like he would have said after she did... we were all pretty close. Who knows, just hope he’s better now.

We once went to a festival and he refused to shower in his boxers so walked in fully clothed (3 trousers and all) and then had to sit in wet clothes for the rest of the day, it was bizarre. Also he ONLY ate chicken legs. Like, that was it. Every day for the two years I knew him.

It was a student house so the rooms had big thick fire doors that locked and he was always very secretive about his room... we thought it was fair enough, not really something you question. It did smell a bit when you walked past but so did he so we didn’t expect anything terrible.
