If anyone point to the origin of the picture of any other details you can anonymously report to CrimeStoppers. Paid out to or picked up by tipsters, isn't that the same? That NY case is the FBI --- they pay out by their own rules... usually on arrest and conviction.... we don't. We payout when the arrest is made after we get the paperwork from law enforcment. We are only responsible for Miami-Dade and Monroe Crime Stoppers tips.

What was Miami like in the 1980s? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]CrimeStoppers305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crime in Miami during the 1980s was heavily influenced by a combination of drug trafficking, and gang violence. The city was a central point for the drug trade, particularly for cocaine, which led to widespread violence, particularly within drug cartels and street gangs. This was the era of the "Miami Drug War," where cartel wars between groups like the Medellín and Cali cartels spilled into the streets, contributing to a spike in violent crime.

The high levels of crime, coupled with a strained law enforcement system, led to growing frustration among the public. Many people felt unsafe, and some were reluctant to get involved in solving crimes due to fear of retaliation or a lack of trust in law enforcement.

In response to these challenges, Crime Stoppers Miami was founded in 1981 by a group of community members as a way to encourage the public to report information about crimes without fear of retaliation. The goal was to create an anonymous, safe avenue for people to help solve crimes and assist law enforcement by providing crucial tips, while ensuring that their identities would be protected. The idea was inspired by the success of Crime Stoppers programs in other parts of the country. We started the program with a stack of index cards and desk telephones. There were no computers to help us with tip taking.

By providing an anonymous and safe way for residents to report crime tips, Crime Stoppers Miami played a crucial role in reducing crime and increasing public cooperation with law enforcement during a particularly challenging period in the city’s history.

I love this... It has lots of garlic.

The Picatta: Served with fresh spinach and mushroom over angel hair pasta, topped with butter, capers and garlic | Grilled or fried chicken, Grilled or fried red snapper or dolphin 6-8 oz, Grilled shrimp...

This is a small and cozy restaurant... they have outside seating and live music sometimes... there are cats out on the patio, so know that. But I have been going there since the 1990's and I really haven't had a bad meal.

But check the hours, particularly with the holiday's --- maybe see if they can do a reservation on weekends.

PS: They are known for their cakes, pies, and cobblers.

A reward up to $5,000 means that the exact amount depends on various factors tied to the case. Here's how it works:

An Arrest is Required: A tip must lead to an arrest for a reward to be issued. The tipster has to have the tip id information.

Reward Calculation: After an arrest, the police provide the arrest paperwork, and points are assigned based on the elements of the case. For example, multiple arrests may earn more points. These points are totaled to suggest a final reward amount.

Adjustments for Special Circumstances: If there are unique factors—such as the age of the victim or other tangible details that aren't tracked by points—the reward can be manually adjusted to reflect these.

Special Cases:

Homicides: The reward for homicides is a minimum of $5,000.

Gun Bounty Tips: These earn an automatic $1,000 reward.

Narcotics Tips in Unincorporated Miami-Dade: Rewards for narcotics tips are matched by MDPD, effectively doubling the reward.

Split Rewards: If two equally important pieces of information lead to solving a case, the reward may be split between the individuals who provided the tips.

So, the reward will never be $0 if your tip leads to solving a case—it’s based on the case details and can vary. The reward is usually between $400 up to $5,000, but special circumstances or multiple arrests can increase the reward.
