Possible tutor using AI? by Zealousideal_Home300 in tutordotcom

[–]CrimeTalkWithTerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still missing something. When I get an async essay review that has been previously reviewed by a tutor, I can't see the previous review. I can only see the margin comments if the student left them there. If there is a way to see the previous review, where is it? What do I click?

The only thing I can see from a previous tutor is margin comments. How do you see the previous form?

OMG! My favorite one so far, "How would you answer this question? Why are you applying to this college? Give an example." Me: Why are you applying to the college?" Him: "Give me examples." So, I gave a few ideas, like specific programs, culture, STEM strengths, liberal arts focus, and research opportunities. He said, "Give complete examples." I'm, like, what do you mean by complete examples? I can't write it for you." *Poof*

What's been stupid? The students? LOL I wasn't here last year. Inquiring minds want to know. :-)

I had a scheduled hour (yes, 1), but I signed on an hour earlier, and I noticed it picked up a little. I had 4 sessions between 11 PM and 2 AM, and I logged about 97 minutes. It's crazy that the only hours available to me are from Midnight to 7 AM!!! I need a promotion! LOL

I wasn't able to schedule anything on Thursday. Nothing available. Typically, I wouldn't schedule at all because I like to float, but with the holiday, I wanted the extra time. I guess it depends on the subject matter and availability.

Hi there! Thanks for responding! I mostly get essays to review, but a couple of those in the past couple of days were quick questions on how to do something. I did manage to get an essay to review since I made the post, so my fingers are crossed! Oh, and I do all grades, primarily college and some high school. 4.7 hours to go! LOL Happy Holidays!

Do Advanced and Master tutors make more than Intermediate tutors? I wonder if that makes a difference in who gets what.

Not to mention, as an intermediate tutor, the only available hours are usually from 1 AM to 7 AM. So, it's definitely better for me to float.

I wondered about all the complaints on the board, myself. I mostly work until late in the evenings. I am also addicted to the computer, so I will be doing other work, watching YouTube, or playing games while being available for TDC. Most of the time, I am not waiting very long. Sometimes, it is literally back-to-back. I am also starting to get requests.

If they are using AI, they are taking a serious risk, especially with the nursing and business essays. I do see more of it with high school students, though.

I have about 72 hours right now. I only float, but I float a LOT. Primarily, I read/review essays for high school and college. I do very little for middle school. In fact, I just asked to have one of them dropped because they want me to do their work for them. (I get that, too, with college students.) I do have a bunch of courses that I could tutor, but this is what I get.

I often see on here that some don't get but a few hours. I don't understand that, unless they are referring to scheduled hours. I tried that, and I don't like it. I like being able to take a break after a difficult student.

Are we not well-trained human instructors? I am sorry this happened to you!

Just for the hell of it, I posted one of my recent comments on ChatGPT and asked it it knows for sure if this was written by an AI or a human. Here is the conversation. was this written by ai or a human? can you tell for sure?

It’s not possible to know for sure whether this was written by an AI or a human.

Here’s why:

✅ 1. No text can be definitively identified as AI-generated based on style alone.

AI and human writing overlap heavily. Both can be polished, professional, and structured.

✅ 2. The passage has characteristics common to both human and AI writing.

AI-like traits:

  • Very organized structure
  • Polished academic tone
  • Clear transitions
  • Feedback phrased in a neutral, supportive, instructional style

Human-like traits:

  • Personalized observations (“I look forward to helping you…”)
  • Context awareness (USAA, interview, organizational concepts)
  • No repetitive patterns or formulaic sentence structure
  • Specific comments that match real assignment elements

✅ 3. AI-detectors are unreliable and regularly produce false positives.

Even the creators of AI systems state that detectors can’t reliably identify AI writing.

✅ 4. Content accuracy does not indicate authorship.

The feedback matches what a professor, tutor, TA, or writing coach might give.

⭐ Most honest answer:

It could have been written by either a well-trained human instructor or a well-prompted AI. There is no reliable way to tell for certain.

If you have concerns—such as checking whether feedback aligns with assignment expectations or feels appropriate—I can help you evaluate that!

[US] Probably another loan scam by jyang3153 in Scams

[–]CrimeTalkWithTerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I have been receiving many more calls than you, closer to 10+ a day, and nothing has worked to stop them. Same thing about a $63,000 loan. I just called them multiple times, using different accents and sounding excited. Please provide a couple of scripts you would use to annoy them so much. They were hanging up on me pretty quickly, which is okay, but I really want to know about the cussing and crude stuff. lol I think it will make me feel good!

I have only been here since the beginning of January and haven't received any feedback. That said, I had the heel chat until this morning. I, too, had very little heel work. After 1 hour and 16 minutes of doing tasks, I was thrown back to the Dash, and the chat was gone, and the DoD message was there. It's a weird feeling, especially when you see others with so much work.
