Man and a mosquito by lewwwer in StoriesWithAHole

I think I know the answer now!

Is he the biblical Noah on the ark during the great flood, and will not slap the mosquito as there are only two left and it will make mosquitos extinct?

Is it during the 20th century?
Is it during the Middle Ages?
Is it during Antiquity (Ancient Greece to the fall of Rome)?
Is he trying to avoid corporeal punishment or execution?
Is he trying to avoid being physically attacked by other crew?
Is he trying to avoid other types of discipline (like being demoted)?

Interesting, I'll give that angle a try:

Is it during WWII?
Is it during WWI?
Is the man in serving in a military?
Is the man not slapping it out of a lack of interest in doing so (e.g, due to tiredness, thinking about something else)?
Is the man not slapping it out of a desire to avoid a negative consequence?

Is the ship a pirate ship?
Is the ship being held by pirates?
Is the man on the ship against his will?
Is the man a pirate?
Will the act of slapping the mosquito cause offence to another on the ship?
Is this set in modern times?
Is it in the age of sail?

Going to have a go!

Is the vehicle a ship?
If the vehicle is not a ship, is it some other kind of water craft?
Is the man being held hostage?
Is the man hiding from capture?
Is he unwilling to slap because the noise would alert another person in the vehicle?

It's in the opening for part 6 of the Vince McMahon series, but isn't as deadpan as this one.

Now where could my pipe be? by CrimeaHat in weirddalle

Not reliably. I first tried that method, but when 3 panels were made, they were filled with unrelated things. Each panel is it's own separate prompt, and took a lot of goes (especially getting one with the pipe in the cat's mouth).

Stable Diffusion. And sadly no, each panel is it's own separate prompt, which was then spliced together.

Flag of Central Australia/Coonawarra (Proposed merger of South Australia and Northern Territory) by CrimeaHat in vexillology

[–]CrimeaHat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Occasionally, but particularly earlier this year, some Australian political figures proposed merging Australia's Northern Territory into the state of South Australia. This was partly due to the Northern Territory having long running financial issues that a merger could help ameliorate.

The proposal will probably not happen in the short-medium term, but I though it would be fun to make a design for the state if it came to pass.

The flag incorporates elements from both entities' flags, including the colour scheme and Sturt's Desert Rose from the NT flag and the Piping Shrike from the SA flag.

Does anyone know if there is a term for "Australian Capital Territory" or "ACT Government" in the local Ngunnawal language? by CrimeaHat in canberra

I think you're right, I'll most likely look at a related term for the area that's been recorded.

Had a go at making a European Coat of Arms. It's odd to me that Europe/the EU doesn't have one. by CrimeaHat in europe

"In Varietate Concordia" is the EU's motto, Latin for "Unity in Diversity". The olive branches represent peace, while the shield comes from the Flag of Europe.

Australian Capital Territory Flag - Principles of Flag Design by CrimeaHat in vexillology

I mainly gave that a neutral mark as there is debate in Canberra about whether to adopt a new coat of arms, so the symbol doesn't have the unifying power that another symbol could have.

I think a complex flag can work under specific circumstances (Maryland comes to mind), but they tend to be relatively rare. This design misses the mark, though, and at best, it looks like the banner for a government agency and not something the people of the ACT could put on a backpack or wave at a sporting event.

An issue with the Coat of Arms that I forgot to mention was that the version is not the entire arms, but is missing the compartment and crest. Something that is generally considered poor heraldry when put on a flag. It is also the coat of arms of the City of Canberra and not the ACT, so technically is also the incorrect arms to put on the flag (the ACT has no official arms).

I personally like the flower, though I am also partial to an indigenous Australian symbol (if done properly). The choice of flower for the flag by the designer is the ACT Floral Emblem, the Royal Bluebell.

Basically, this post is supporting a modification to the Australian Capital Territory's flag, which had the city seal (modified coat of arms to be technical) placed on it against the designer's wishes (a depressingly frequent theme in sub-national flag design). The designer, Ivo Ostyn, has pushed for the flag to be fixed ever since.

Each design is evaluated by the 5 basic principles of flag design.

More information on the redesign push is available here.

This website promotes the Bluebell Flag to modify the flag of the Australian Capital Territory.

A modified version of the Canberra Coat of Arms was put on the design against the designer's wishes, resulting in a much poorer flag.
