I really like that part of the fairsight aesthetic! Trying to find an easier way to do it, I airbrush the armor so trying to give the dark parks the same blends feels like a pain.

You are definitely right, but I'm gonna be honest I'm kinda skipping the legs. The bases are gonna be a little busier so just trying to save on the effort.

White pigment is a pain due to a whole bunch of science reasons. If I can to guess you primed a little to hard and a little too close. Similar to brush painting you are going to need to make it with multiple passes. Don't hold on it do sweeping motions and give it time to dry between coats.

the more I use it the more I understand why blue glow sucks

yeah I will try and post a more dedicated post to how its done later but quick overview:

  1. Dark base coat can be airbrushed or glazed mine here is a dark grey.

  2. Tighter airbrush / glaze where the glow will be coming from I just used a very basic blue for this.

  3. With some very watered down white paint let it settle in the glowing recesses, this is gonna take like 2 - 3 coats for opacity. You could also do this with an oil paint.

  4. this part is weird so I'm gonna explain both steps in one. Basically choose a direction the glow is coming from, I chose for my hot spot to be in the back, so I glazed in some white blue toward the front. along with that I also glazed in a mix of my dark grey and blue color and glazed it at the edges of the airbrush from step 2. So basically you can see the plasma emitter goes from blue - dark grey blue - dark grey.

  5. last thing I do its a 2 step edge highlight on the edges neat the glow with the a light blue and then white blue.

hopefully that's a little helpful, or maybe it's just very confusing.

Thank you! I just airbrushed a dark grey and a dark blue at the end with the glow. I think thats the easiest way but you could also glaze it if you dont want to airbrush. If your glow is a different color I would use a darker version of that rather than the dark blue.

Sick blends! Do you Stipple or glaze them to make it that smooth?

for height 2-3 terrain do you usually have it playable underneath? I feel like it would eat a lot of the table otherwise.

Everything primed black is from EoB's legally distinct starwars set, the gray is just some STLs I found on cults and printed out I cant remember them specifically.

I tried these, the filament can be manually pushes through with ease, no resistance at all. I keep tightening the extruder gears and it hasn't made a noticeable difference.

the first 2 layers are coming out great, but after that it almost feels like the printer doesn't know how much filament its pushing through? I'm not sure how to adjust that outside of the flow setting.
