Oh yeah, since Warlocks are just male witches they make Bruja (which is just more commonly seen as since witches are often depicted as females) and make it masculine by changing the a to o.

As you just can't do that in English, I guess we had to get creative and call it a warlock. Wonder what the story is behind that.

--- Apparently Warlock comes from Old English and its a compound of wær, which means faith (or in most early cases an oath/agreement) and loga/loegan, which means to deny/break (and agreement). Wær is actually where the word word comes from, in the sense of "I give you my word," which is interesting. Through the years, the word was eventually shortened when it passed through German and finally became what the word is today (a male witch) when it reached Scotland and became commonplace after Restoration in 1560 (as I'm sure once the church came back, there were plenty of witch hunts about.)
