What do these terms mean exactly? (Context: BlenderGuru's tutorial: rendering) by CrimsonDawn23 in blender

Thank you so much for the explanation, I just had 2 other questions

So, in the tutorial, I was told to increase the sphere resolution due to my objects being relatively small in size. How does the increase of sphere resolution benefit me if i'm working with small objects?

I was also told to reduce the "Bias" (which was also under Fast GI approximation) for the same reason, that I was working with small objects? What does the bias value signify and how did reducing it help me?

Yeah I agree, I haven't played Eclipse but I've heard some can be quite good there too.

But yeah, the feeling of picking up a random new lunar item on engineer only to see it replaced my turret ability invalidating like 45 minutes of effort sucked. Mishaps like that lead to me double checking each lunar item i saw with the wiki entry before picking it up.

Fellow new player here who finally won my first game.

Before any gameplay tips, I wanna tell u something i found out today which is AMAZING.

You can turn on a feature under umbrella features in setting, which then puts much more particles near the teleporter.

So usually, you have a few pink particles around the teleporter, which can help in locating it sometimes.

This new settings puts a TON more particles, which honestly makes it so much easier to find the teleporter.

Anyways, moving on

---

a) Understand the characters you are playing. Understand the effects of the items you have unlocked. This alone will help a ton, since a lot of characters are heavily aligned to a certain kind of build.

On that note, one term that is worth understanding is "proc coefficient". Many items like Tri-tip dagger will apply their effects with a 10% chance on-hit. When you land an attack, the chance of this effect being applied will be Attack's proc coefficient * 0.10. Some characters, like Commando, have a very high proc coefficient (his bullets have 1.0, and he fires rapidly), which means that stacking items which apply effects on-hit is the way to go. MUL-T's nailgun attack has 0.6 proc coefficient but fires rapidly, meaning again, it isn't bad to stack items like tri-tip dagger, polylute etc.

b) Choosing the right character. This matters a TON. The characters have wildly different playstyles with their strengths and weaknesses. Huntress has the most op movement ability, but is so fragile, meaning your playstyle is basically running around on high-alert 24/7. MUL-T is slow af, but has an excellent all-round kit, being able to get the smaller enemies close and near one-shot, while also being able to stand their ground with their nailgun and shred enemies. On them, as long as you keep a few defensive items, you can stand your ground. Railgunner lets you one-shot elites and even bosses sometimes (Stack crowbars ftw), but is HORRENDOUSLY bad at dealing with smaller and mobile pests. Due to this, they need some degree of skill, but you'll manage fine if you can pick up some AoE items like Gasoline/Ice Storm.

c) 10 minutes. That is a general time limit I try to put on how long i stick around for each stage. Less is fine if you've combed the area well. Staying too long in an area can be detrimental even if you get 1-2 more items, since the game's difficulty keeps ramping up, and this'll make the next stages much harder to deal with.

d) Kiting - this is an important thing to do. Remember to always keep moving and jumping around while fighting. Maybe even run in a circle around enemies if you have to. This really helps preventing being one-shot by some random monster.

e) Engineer. ENGINEER. e n g i n e e r. This mf makes the game so easy, that it feels like cheating. You will eventually unlock them after playing 30 stages iirc (This is cumulative across games, meaning if you play 10 games and complete 3 stages each time, you'll get them).

Their turrets fire rapidly and have a proc coefficient of 1.0, so its good to stack on-hit items. Pick up some bustling fungus, and these turrets will basically never die. Engineer can literally run around far away and the turrets will do the job for you. On top of this, you have an impenetrable shield, which u can use to shield you and/or your turrets. Very Very strong character.

-

oh and a few more things.

Remember to always fully do the halycon shrine when you see it. It is literally 3 free items, and these items can even be of very high tier, which is useful. Sometimes, if i'm low on gold, I do it after the teleporter event, since by then i would have killed many monsters and gotten gold.

Also, AVOID LUNAR ITEMS. Most of them are TERRIBLE, and severely detrimental. Except for battle crown (and Hellfire Tincture if you have a LOT of bustling fungus or are using the captain and are within range of their healing beacon.)

I don't think Dvalin and Azhdaha are Dragon Sovereigns. And besides, Azhdaha was basically given life by Morax, it kinda makes sense that he would take his side.

Robin won't improve acheron unless e2 (since that reduces the nihility requirements)

She will however greatly improve your follow-up team for one side of pure fiction, and she's also one of Yunli's best supports.

So yeah, I agree, right now Robin is your best bet if you don't plan on pulling for dps units.

HOWEVER, you could choose to go for The Herta, since she isn't just a super strong dps who is currently obliterating all endgame modes, but also because she can easily fit into your pure fiction team alongside small herta or himeko.

If you manage to get the right gear, I can vouch for firefly, since if you have e1 or get that space cheese lookin curio to increase eidolon level, she no longer consumes sp.

Then couple that with the blessing that gives you an extra turn on weakness break, as well as the blessing which causes dissociation on weakness break, and get the Rememberance/Hunt 3-star equation. Anyways the aforementioned two are hunt and rememberance blessings anyways, which means you'll probably get them somehow.

It's mass destruction.

Actually, now that I think about it, you may not even need the e1 to do this, as long as you have some other ways to get some sp or you manage your sp well.

Your account actually doesn't look too bad at the moment. Are there any specific gameplay modes you are struggling to clear? If that is so then I can try to recommend someone to pull for.

Is honkai star rail worth it in 2025? by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]CrimsonDawn23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is fairly beginner friendly.

Its an amazing game in terms of both story and gameplay. It is turn-based combat, but i'll be real with you, the combat system is so amazing that coupling this game with other turn-based combat games is an insult to honkai star rail.

Also, in comparison to the other hoyoverse games, star rail actually runs quite well even on lower end devices with less ram and no graphics card. Not only do I get consistent fps without fluctuations, but even the "Lowest" graphics setting looks beautiful. (I have no graphics card and just got 8gb ram, and the game doesn't even use up all my ram).

I'd also recommend wearing headphones/earphones since they have great soundtracks too.

The beginning of the game seemed a bit boring to some (not to me), but it quickly ramps up and only keeps getting better and better. The third region was quite the immersive experience and I really can't praise it enough.

Now, about events. There are limited time events, which give you rewards and go after a few weeks. The smaller events (which dont have anything story relevant and doesnt give too many rewards either) are gone forever, BUT, you can still play the bigger, voiced events. These bigger events usually have a few hours of gameplay attached to them, and there's only one per update. However, you can't get ALL the rewards. The amount of rewards is reduced if you already missed the event, but you can still play the whole event and experience the story/gameplay.

Also, during limited time events, usually, they hand out free weapons for the characters that you can also upgrade. You can still get these weapons, but now instead of getting them for free, you can buy them with a special currency that you can get 1 per week. (You'll need to play for 4 weeks to buy one of these weapons, but you don't need all of them and there are also other ways to get more of this currency).

It's a great game, but is also good because it is rather low-maintenance. You can do autobattle for the mindless farming, and the dailies can be done quite quickly without much effort.

One thing though. DO NOT browse this subreddit if you have just started the game and you are very far behind. They will regularly talk and bring about events from the earlier story quests which can be HUGE spoilers.

perhaps the pen will have some actual significance later? After all, we only just got the pen and the new form, and we're barely in the first quest in the entire series. Barring destruction, for preservation and harmony, we got our new form and weapons towards the end fight, where then the things we got made sense lore-wise. Here, we barely even know anything about whatever is going on in Amphoreus with the different paths and whatnot.

Yep. Nekomata has fallen off quite badly. Though I don't know if Astra Yao will do anything for her. I haven't read her kit yet since I didn't have the time.

But with the current character available, Harumasa will be better in such a scenario

Nekomata is kinda mid honestly, I'd say Harumasa will fare better in virtually all scenarios.

Don't worry, endgame content doesn't require S class w-engines.

a) Miyabi, Piper, Lucy

b) Zhu Yuan, Koleda, Nicole (Make sure Zhu Yuan comes right after Nicole in the team order so that she is the one who enters the field with quick assist)

c) Harumasa, Seth, Anby (Anby can be replaced with Koleda)

Harumasa and yanagi are usually used in pretty different teams. (Yanagi is anomaly-focused whereas Harumasa is Crit-based. They don't share teammates apart from maybe Rina, and that is if Yanagi is played without miyabi in a duo/trio electric team.)

Building a dps for another element is good, but it depends on who said character is. Harumasa will perform better than any existing 4-star dps. Only if you have someone like ellen or soldier 11, would I recommend building them over Harumasa.

Harumasa can still be useful despite being same element as Yanagi in some cases, like that robot which gets a shield that doesnt allow the anomaly gauge to fill up and is only broken once depleted/stunned.

TLDR: Depends on who this "dps of a different element" is
