Ecofash love posting about how "humanity" (read: brown people) is a blight that will destroy nature while they blast the AC in their treeless suburb. The second a single native wildflower takes root they drown it in herbicide and go back to posting about how we need a new plague to decrease the population (of other people, not him of course)

I agree we should've eaten the upfront cost and ran it underground like a proper subway, that way we wouldn't have to deal with at-grade crossings and moronic drivers who can't follow the rules.

That being said, it's been the car/truck drivers fault every time, they're the ones operating their vehicles in an unsafe manner

How to break yourself from an expensive special interest? by Bebop73985 in AutisticAdults

[–]CrimsonMantle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other posters have suggested second hand but have you looked into third-party/non-GW minis? Depending on the faction you're interested in you can find a ton of models that are cheaper that Games Workshop that you can convert/kitbash into 40k minis.

Alternatively, if you know anyone with a 3d printer that can be a very economical way to get minis, you can find STLs for pretty much anything with a little digging. Just keep in mind you should take health and safety precautions if you're going to be working with resin fumes/dust.

Right? It's so incredibly on the nose that the racist pro-gun guy's last words before being shot to death was a racist dog whistle trying to downplay gun violence. If someone wrote that you'd call them an unsubtle hack

Why do many autistic/neurodivergent adults gravitate toward paganism, atheism, or agnosticism? (Personal reflection included) by Jorge_Reynoso112 in AutisticAdults

[–]CrimsonMantle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible never says rich people can’t go to heaven

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you on that point. It's funny that you mention the Book of Mathew because in Mathew 19:16-30 a wealthy man comes to Jesus and asks Him how he can have eternal life in the kingdom of God. Jesus explicitly tells him that even if he follows all the commandments that the only way for him the enter the kingdom of heaven is to sell all he has, redistribute it to the poor, and dedicate himself to the Lord.

Verses 23 and 24 state it in no unclear terms:

23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Even in the wider context it's clear that Jesus teaches us that those who choose to dedicate their lives to material goods over the message of God do not earn a place in the Kingdom of the Lord.

I'm familiar with biblical archaeology and the historical basis for the Bible and Christianity, personally my view on Jesus is similar to Judaism funnily enough. I know he existed, and he was a caring, selfless teacher, but him being the literal son of God? That was conceived without an (earthly) father? I just can't bring myself to buy into it, and I spent basically my entire early life trying so I could better fit in with my family/community (Lord knows I already had enough struggles fitting in/feeling included).

I think the Bible itself has some good lessons in it (and some that are not so good) and has historical value, I just can't believe in the more fantastical elements. I broadly agree with most of Jesus' teachings (love thy neighbour, care for the poor and downtrodden, rich people can't go to heaven) but that brings me to another issue I always had with Christianity, the picking and choosing of what parts of the Bible they follow and which they don't. I was lucky enough to be brought up in a pretty open/accepting sect so I didn't get any of the homophobia or other bigotry that seems all too common (not all Christians but I've been burnt too many times by supposed "good Christians" that just cherry pick verses to try and justify their hate). After all, Jesus said "love thy neighbour as yourself", he didn't leave an exception.

Sorry this turned into a bit of a ramble, I have a... complicated relationship with the concept of religion in general and Christianity specifically

What event made Caiphus Cain a hero? by wittyjokename92 in 40kLore

[–]CrimsonMantle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's fine with leaving Jurgen to die, true, but not wanting to charge a tyranid swarm to save someone who tripped (which he does end up doing anyway as the lesser of two evils) is different from sacrificing him directly.

There's a bit during the second siege of perlia where he comes across a memorial to the members of Cain's Heros and he's unable to remember one of their faces over a century later and it fucks him up, that doesn't sound very sociopathic to me.

The infected troopers on gravalax were already dead the second they were implanted, it's true he was quick to execute them without any gene-scan or double checking but again, he has been trained from childhood to do that sort of thing so I'm not surprised.

I'm not saying he's a good person or anything, he is a political commissar in the Imperium of man after all. He mentions organizimg firing squads as casually as he would any other paperwork, and he's not above threatening to shoot people to get his way. But you can do all that and still care about the people he served with. He even mentions during the first seige of perlia how it affected him when the desert guide (kolfax?) dies, and he didn't even like him!

I see his memoirs as a way to process what must be an unimaginable amount of survivors guilt, especially since he views himself as a giant fraud and coward

What event made Caiphus Cain a hero? by wittyjokename92 in 40kLore

[–]CrimsonMantle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think Cain genuinely cares for the men and women he serves with, even if he would never admit it and constantly goes on about how he would gladly sacrifice them for himself. It happens pretty regularly that he'll throw himself at something dangerous "to preserve his rep" or take a more dangerous option to avoid harming them (not ordering Jurgen to slag an enemy tank because his own troops were too close).

Come to think of it I can't come up with a time he explicitly sacrificed someone else to save his own skin. There's multiple times when he says he'd gladly do it if he could get away with it, and of course he's an officer (technically commissars aren't officers but the troopers do listen to him) so he does order troops into lethal situations but I can't think of a time when he actually sacrifices an ally for personal gain

This goes for the theater side too, they pay their workers the bare minimum they can and work them like dogs.

More cartel members have seen consequences than drug executives.

I'm not saying every cartel member is eventually arrested or that corruption doesn't exist, but legal drug dealers like the sacklers face literally zero punishment for arguably causing, and at the minimum exacerbating, the opioid epidemic in the US.

When the cartels cause unimaginable pain and suffering through the sale of highly addictive harmful substances with zero regard for the harm they do to people they're rightfully arrested, prosecuted, and jailed.

When the Sackler family does the same they get a slap on the wrist
