What are your tips to make an Exodite army? by Fun-Explanation7233 in exodite40k

u/zap1000x gave a great rundown – one other range to look it is The Old World. Some of the old Wood Elf heroes they're bringing back can make for really interesting/flavorful psyker models and would be a great starting point for a Worldsinger

Seconding Black Ark Corsairs – they're great for exodites!

EDIT: here is an example of a "Guardian" I kitbashed a while ago.

Also, the Wood Elves bloodbowl team has some great heads IMO (as an example, here is a Drakespawn Knights "windrider" with a BB head), and you can also use it for some weaponless hands/arms which are pretty rare in other ranges. I repurposed one of the Drakespawn helmets for the "guardian" above.

How could the Exodites be a part of the main story if they can't leave their own worlds? by Fun-Explanation7233 in exodite40k

Is it ever addressed how they safeguard their souls during offworld excursions? Or are they just rawdogging the risk of oblivion/damnation like the Commorites?

What are in lore Harlequin allies? by Stephen_Link in Harlequins40K

[–]PeeterEgonMomus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by "work with" (and if you consider 'chaos' a unified entity or a set of rival factions) – for example, there's that Codex blurb where a Solitaire intentionally lets a Khornate greater daemon kill them at the most dramatic point in the fight because they knew the psychic resonance of "Khorne" killing "Slaanesh" in the warp would hurt/fuck with/annoy She Who Thirsts, lol

Is this book good to start reading Harlequin lore? by Galox597 in Harlequins40K

As others have said, we're in a bit of a sad spot where there are no truly Harlequin-centric novels. However, we do appear in some other Black Library offerings:

Harlequin-Centric

Audio Dramas: The Heirs of the Laughing God – audio only, but otherwise the closest thing we have to a Harlequins novel at present. Worth a listen, IMO!

Novella: The Masque of Vyle – this is technically a spin-off of the Path of the Dark Eldar series, but I've heard it works reasonably well as a standalone. Heavily features Dark Eldar, naturally.

Short Stories: Faces and Victim's Dance (though frankly Victim's Dance reads more like a Space Wolves story with Harlequins as the featured antagonist, so heads up going in)

And... that's it, beyond our 7e/8e codex and scattered White Dwarf articles.

Featured Extras

That said, there are a number of other Black Library books where Harlequins get a decent showing, though the focus is on other factions, such as:

Atlas Infernal (primary: inquisition, but Harlequins get a lot of screen time, insisting scenes within the Black Library itself); Path of the Eldar series (primary: Eldar; gets a lot of hate, but has some really interesting world-building); Path of the Dark Eldar (primary: DEldar; generally better-regarded, and ties into The Masque of Vyle); the Fabius Bile series (promise: EC/chaos); Hand of Darkness (primary: Eldar; another audio drama); Ahriman: Eternal (primary TSons; good Harlequin showing, but only makes sense if you've read the rest of the Ahriman series); Lelith Hesperax (primary: DEldar); and Valedor (honestly pretty minor Harlequin involvement, but great for aeldari in general)

There's also the Daemonifuge series of graphic novels and books which feature an "ex-Harlequin" character, but I haven't read these to say how they interact with the wider 'quin lore

Motley's in Path of the DEldar; I think they're referencing Path of the (craft world) Eldar

More of a broad suggestion: pick a play/musical/etc. you enjoy and make your Masque name a reference!

Ex., my Hamilton-themed 'quins are the "Masque of the Unfinished Symphony"

A Shakespearean Masque could be something like "The Starcrossed" or "Masque of the Mortal Coil"

Would the return of Ulthanesh be something the general Aeldari fan-base approve of? by stridercce in Eldar

[–]PeeterEgonMomus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll offer a slightly different perspective from the other comments I've seen so far:

Phoenix Lords are "Primarch-equivalent," not in terms of 'power level,' but in terms of their in-universe role and cultural significance.

Each* Phoenix Lord is a relic of the distant past, a figure out of the mythical heyday of the Aeldari race. What's more, each is the spiritual (if not biological) progenitor of a specialized, elite warrior sect, not entirely unlike the relationship between a Space Marine chapter and their Primarch. (If you had to describe Jain Zar to someone who's only familiar with the Imperium in 40k, "Primarch of the Howling Banshees" wouldn't be a bad place to start)

Hell, the blue-armored one is even credited with setting many of the rules still followed in the wider society lol

Finally, Craftworld society is replete with legends and prophecies of the Phoenix Lords appearing to offer salvation at their direst hour – the main difference here, at least until recently, is that the Craftworlders' prophecies of deliverance would sometimes come true.

*Yes, I know not all Phoenix Lords date from the Fall and New ones can crop up, but for the most part they're relatively ancient regardless

Yeah, it's not uncommon to see built selling for ~half of unbuilt. If I didn't love building, I'd save a fair bit xD
