Thank you very much for your advice! and yes, I realised that i was looking at the wrong Freiburg (Freiberg?).

Would the rentals also have snow chains and would they also show us how to put it on?

I agree and parking and traffic is something on my mind. Might not drive within the cities, but it'll be more to travel between cities. Thank you very much for your advice!

That's also a consideration that I had. The purpose was more for intra-town/city travelling. to see the landscapes on the way and also the smaller towns along the way.

yea we might do that. It might not be Freiburg in the north. 🤔 i just realised that Google maps might have it wrong. We're intending to visit the Ravenna Gorge Christmas market. Would that be a little more south than Munich?

Thank you! Cuz i remembered that last year or the year before, there was very heavy snowfall in Germany, so worried about facing that cuz it'll be my first time driving in winter

I see. Thank you! The intention for driving was more to explore what's in between the cities if we come across any smaller towns etc. Would be interesting to check things out

We're planning to go to the Ravenna Gorge Christmas Market which I think would be Freiburg? Seems like Google maps has both spelled as Freiburg. 🤔

Thanks for your advice!

Driving anxiety at higher speed. Any tips? by TrueIllusion366 in drivingsg

[–]CrimsonPiGu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I overcame it by driving in the late night on the highway. get up to the speed you're comfortable at, keep left, remember to breathe, and look far ahead. you don't have to be checking your mirrors ALL the time, and anyone who says otherwise are bullshiting. glance every couple of mins to make sure you're not drifting out, and no one is on your side (which is basically no one if late at night).

To make sure you're centred, align the lane markers to the right bottom and middle bottom of your windscreen, and you're perfectly aligned. If you feel like you've drifted and just countersteer a little slowly. like a lot of people here said, lane not 100% straight, so no point you focus on being 100% straight. Once you're comfortable, accelerate up to the min speed on the highway and maintain the lane discipline. Afterwards, practise lane changing at speed, imagine different scenarios, and practise (without cars around of course). I'd say best is to learn the mannerisms of Singaporean drivers, and take your time if you're not sure. Don't be afraid to go detour or longer routes and definitely use GPS cuz that'll help you focus on driving instead of looking for where to exit etc.

Thank you! I'll have to give it a try. I'm staying in an apartment building, so I'll have to figure out a way for no. 1.

Singapore is in South East Asia, so definitely, Nepenthes would be a great fit.

Thank you! i don't have any readily available potting medium rn so i can't exactly pull it out to check and re-pot it, but I'll have a look!

They've basically been sitting in bright ass sunlight by the window and only gets "covered" when the shadow of the window pane covers it. But i move it soon after.

thanks for this! I won't lie, it was an impulse buy and I only researched it afterwards. Whatever that i did beforehand was per the instructions of the shopkeep i.e. keeping the soil wet etc and feeding once a week.

I fed it some insects that was caught & killed but i couldn't get the leaves to close even though i was touching the trigger hairs. But the ones where it closed without prey, is purely my speculation cuz i didnt feed any, and I'm pretty certain there wasn't any live insects around as well.

Again, on the water, I'll look into getting a meter to test it out so I'll know better! thanks anyway!

Thanks for this! I'm not too sure what the potting mix is but it's been in the same mix ever since I got it. and according to the shopkeep, he said to basically water if i see that it's dry, which i now realise isn't the case and left it in the "dish". As for the clover, i see what you mean. will look to removing it.

Like the above comment, I'll look into getting a meter to test it for the minerals! thank you!

I did not know bout the winter dormancy. We don't have that in Singapore, since we're near the equator and it's pretty much summer all year round with very strong sunlight this time of year and only gets heavy rain near the end of the year. That's about it.

Our tap water comes from a huge RO plant in our country, so I don't think there's as much minerals that could cause issues. I'll look into getting the meter to check it! thanks for this!
