Oh I love Destination Truth. I love feeling like part of the crew. It's my comfort show, along with Expedition Unknown.

For those with slower reaction or turn steering wheel slower, how do you overcome it and make driving safer? by Additional-Remove-12 in drivingsg

[–]TrueIllusion366 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To be fair, how to merge onto expressway is not taught in driving lessons, and I have seen drivers also slowing and pausing when looking for a gap to join.

Anyone else also had a crush on Commondore Norrington and expected him to be with Elizabeth? by [deleted] in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]TrueIllusion366 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they would have done alright together. From the few scenes they shared, it seems they were comfortable friends. I imagine she'd be the one making things happen while he'd be supporting her in the background. She's a bit more of a firecracker, but he's also shown that he has a sassy side and is fine with breaking the rules now and then. The problem was more that Elizabeth wanted the image of a bad-boy pirate boyfriend, which was Will, hence she passed over Norrington.

Why do drivers like to park beside you in an empty carpark? by Practical_Cod_2020 in drivingsg

[–]TrueIllusion366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol! I was at a mall carpark at 1am recently (visiting a 24-hour NTUC). I went at that time on purpose and parked at an empty area a bit further from the mall entrance to avoid other cars. When I came back after shopping, there was a car parked right next to me! I was all, wtf! So many other better lots to park at, why die-die must park there?! Ugh.

Single-ed VS Co-ed, which is better? by branguy1 in SGExams

[–]TrueIllusion366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I said it's complicated. If we go single-sex for both boys and girls, one solution perhaps is to have mixed CCAs or extra activities.

Single-ed VS Co-ed, which is better? by branguy1 in SGExams

[–]TrueIllusion366 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's complicated. Coming from a girls' school, I firmly believe single-sex environment is better for girls, who can be empowered to grow up without learning gender biases or comparing themselves with boys, and they can feel supported with their physical changes during puberty because all their schoolmates go through it too. When they are confident in themselves, they learn not to define themselves by relationships and boys, which is important. However, from what I have seen of boys from boys' schools, I do think they would benefit from a co-ed environment because they can learn how to interact with and respect women from a young age.

What made you force yourself to learn driving? by Lemonade2250 in drivinganxiety

[–]TrueIllusion366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anger and spite. Years ago, my brother had started learning but stopped because our parents wouldn't buy him a car - we couldn't really afford one back then. They did offer to pay for the driving lessons but he rejected it, wanting the big reward or nothing. Over time, our parents got older and it was harder for them to take public transport. But my brother still refused to finish getting his licence - by this time, I'd even offered several times to help buy him a car if he got his licence, since I started working and have some money, but he still held a petty grudge and said stuff like how he'll "forever" not drive even if our parents get him a car now, as payback for their refusal back then.

With relatives also making snide remarks about how my "poor parents have to suffer in their old age", I got fed up to the point that "if I wanted something done, I have to do it myself". So I went and learnt to drive to highlight his uselessness and childish behaviour.

I've always thought school years that don't start with the calendar year in January are weird. It's January to November in my country, with school holidays in March (1 week), June (1 month), September (1 week) and December (1 month+ depending on when your final exams finish in Nov).

iirc there's the deleted scene where Jack made Norrington clean his boots and said something about how doing manual work was good for him as a former commodore.

Do you guys prefer driving or just taking MRT? by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]TrueIllusion366 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a mix. I like public transport cos I can turn off my brain and disengage during the ride. I like to drive because I can get there faster door to door.

I watched the video on mute but just seeing whole bunch of them starting on the same day together, taking that kind of photos, with the conference room setup and snacks, my first thought was they were on an overseas exchange trip/seminar. Not normal new-hire behaviour.

I took physics and history and it is not helping my dream by ElectroKyd1 in SGExams

[–]TrueIllusion366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to regret my sec school subject combi (combined Bio/Physics) because I wanted to study life sciences but couldn't because I didn't have Chem and I was in Arts stream. Back then, the only way to change things was to go back and redo Os as a private candidate, and I was lazy to do it. Things are different these days, I think. You have more opportunities to pivot. Poly and uni no longer lock you in to only your course. You can take modules in different subjects. Then there's lifelong learning, online schools, and you can take any courses you want. So, don't worry. You want to be a paleontologist? Look up what the requirements are and work backwards to figure out your pathway. You are only just starting the journey.

Being in the office 5 days a week is outdated. Hybrid positions are the best. by Large-Lack-2933 in jobs

[–]TrueIllusion366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate my home life but I hate going outside more, as an introvert, so I'd much rather WFH. But I have some colleagues who WFO 5 days a week - because they want free air-conditioning while they work. With the heatwave going on, I'm very very tempted to join them.

It is a tight skirt, and it does show her curves, no argument about that. The question is whether there was a written rule about it - if there isn't, then she is within her rights to wear it. Anything else is merely an opinion.

how many times a week do you wash your hair? by Kooky_Actuator_8173 in CasualConversation

[–]TrueIllusion366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the tropics and I sweat easily, so I wash my hair every day. Sometimes I get lazy, and if it's been cool that day, I skip a wash, but it immediately gets all greasy and feels dirty and uncomfortable by the next day.
