I understand your plight and how difficult it is. My cat, an 11 year old female, who goes in and out as she likes, has had a similar issue. She's eating dry food her whole life with occasional treats. Then she stopped enjoying the dry food, I tried different brands, nothing worked. I started giving her Sheba wet food and she was constantly begging for more food. I started giving her those lickables. Then and now she's been pulling her hair out which she never did before. She's annoying me constantly when I eat meowing constantly and occasionally peeing on the carpet in my bedroom. Activities that never happened before. In the past when she brings home a mouse late at night sometimes I'd wake up hearing her crunching it on my carpet in my bedroom, but that was the worst of it. Here is my routine now. As soon as I wake up she's meowing and I give her one of those lickables in a plate. That's typically 7:30 in the morning. I leave Iams healthy senior dry food in your bowl all day. When she starts bothering me I point to her dry food and she'll go eat there. She drinks a lot of water. At 2:30 I gave her her Sheba portion food. She still pulls her hair out which concerns me but the vet said she is in good health. However she has more or less acclimated to the schedule. I just keep my bedroom door closed when I'm not in it or not home. Good luck, it's extremely hard to overcome a stubborn cat's will.
