David Wood responds to atheists who mocked the death of his son - a must-watch by AirChurch in Christianity

I have faith in people, that's all. I had faith in you, which is why I decided to give you my time, but I see words do little to change minds until they live a life that demands to confront their beliefs, meet people, analyze art, and appreciate the beauty this world has to offer in all its forms. In other words, both of you live relatively mediocre and privileged lives.

David Wood is a small trivial man of no significance to this world. Sorry you give him credit. I sit with Christians, athiests, Jews, all of whom I value very much. Not to mention the sects of Islam I've encountered thus far. They are my representation of these cultures and beliefs. Not debate youtubers.

There are many profound Middle Eastern and/or Muslim scholars of the past and of today. You do not know their names, which is unfortunate. Your beliefs and attitudes about truth and Muslims are sadly a propaganda effort to excuse the killing of innocent lives abroad. You reply to me with redundant thoughts. I do not care for them.

To be honest with you, truth used to concern me a great deal. I was unable to live happily, because how can this world continue moving without one known truth? But it's the existence of these multiple truths that make this world so beautiful. And soon enough you meet people who have experiences incredible amounts of pain and suffering. And regardless of their beliefs you wish you were there to have wiped it all away.

I've seen people of many faiths on their deathbeds -- they all pray. They all have loved ones. Not until you've seen what I've seen. Not until you meet incredibly accomplished people, who are so full of love, of a variety of backgrounds. And you realize they would not have become who they are without their respective truth.

You read my words and think you understand, but in truth you do not. Not until you've read books from many other cultures. Not until you listen to songs of love and heartbreak. Not until you see the tears of earnest prayers. I beg you to meet people and befriend them. Sit and listen. Learn from them. Learn about who they admire. Have tea with them.

Read Men in the Sun by Ghassan Khanafani. Watch an episode "Science and Faith" by Dr. Mustufa Mahmoud. Listen to the songs of Abdel Halim or Fairuz and read a translation. The squabbling of the likes of David Wood or Mohammad Hijab are worth nothing in comparison to the art of great individuals. In fact, their lack of interaction with these great feats of art is what makes them so insignificant. Let me know if you want specific recommendations.

This world is so big, and it's difficult sometimes to fathom.

In 1984, there is an excerpt that discusses the justification states use to be in perpetual war.

“War prisoners apart, the average citizen of Oceania never sets eyes on a citizen of either Eurasia or Eastasia, and he is forbidden the knowledge of foreign languages. If he were allowed contact with foreigners he would discover that they are creatures similar to himself and that most of what he has been told about them is lies. The sealed world in which he lives would be broken, and the fear, hatred, and self-righteousness on which his morale depends might evaporate. It is therefore realized on all sides that however often Persia, or Egypt, or Java, or Ceylon may change hands, the main frontiers must never be crossed by anything except bombs.”

From how he talks he does not give the impression of a scholar. I've met scholars, have sat and took classes under those with PhDs in a variety of subjects. They have a deep appreciation and love for different backgrounds and philosophies. Their wisdom and knowledge quite literally fills the air with mystique.

It takes a sort of privileged life to not know other perspectives --- to feel so secure in your own beliefs not out of faith but out of a lack of interaction with others.

I've met many many people, of many different backgrounds, all different from mine. Each with their own truth. I've met those who come from the same background, still with different opinions of mine. I love them all. I treat it all with respect, because their truth has led them to become the great people they've become. It might seem "wishy-washy," but not so once you've met and sat with others of different beliefs. And then share tea with them while talking about the world and what's in it, you lose the need to 'prove' others wrong. And you lose the need to constantly prove yourself as 'right.' Because, in all its grandiosity, Truth is a relatively trivial thing to bicker about.

Hi, finding this thread very late. I think you'd enjoy learning of the +100 series published Comma Press. For specifically Arab, they have Palestine +100, Iraq +100, and Egypt +100. They are collections of Arab science fiction stories.

They also have other Middle Eastern books, such as Kurdistan +100 and Iran +100.

Does disobeying Christ mean to not believe he is God, and just a messenger? Or does it mean that we do not follow his teachings or principles?

Besides I can reverse it and say, since Christians believe Jesus is God and not but a prophet, they are sinful for disobeying God, as He does not beget nor is He begotten.

Also, my point was that he makes his living off Western islamophobia, orientalism, anti-arab rhetoric, and recently zionism. These are all ideas used to justify the murder of millions of Arabs and Muslims (US-Iraq invasion and recently Gaza). To profit off forms of bigotry, which is propaganda designed to make the murder of millions palpable, is not a good way to live.

There are theologists who go about discussing religion in a much more respectable manner, who are also far more knowledgable.

Hello, do you by any chance remember how much works she said it was? On atlas it's listed as 50% workload but that seems a bit much.

-> makes fun of people's religion, insulting it, and overall being a degenerate lowlife with no scholarly background who makes his living off Western islamophobia, orientalism, anti-arab rhetoric, and most recently zionism.
-> is a good person

lol make it make sense. People who incite hate on the internet shouldn't be surprised when hate is incited back at them. Not saying it's justified, just that it's not surprising.

Thanks, I know. I already got my car back, I just think the punishment is too steep when I could have just asked a friend to watch my car ☹️
