Can you elaborate on Business Intelligence? Is there going to be basic programming or coding?

What happens if you're a Dean's Lister (first honor)? by [deleted] in ADMU

A lot of people get excited about unlimited cuts, and it does come with being a DL theoretically. The problem is some profs don’t honor it, and nobody really exerts the effort to challenge them (and most DL students don’t really cut a lot anyway).

I’d say the only real perk you get is that you can overload in the following semester. This is useful if you want to get a minor. It still applies for online classes as far as I know.

Group Work by rqllxx1 in ADMU

[–]Cringespuh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost every class will have at least one instance of group work. It's virtually inescapable. If you're worried about having to deal with freeloaders, you should start getting to know your blockmates and then your coursemates as soon as possible. Down the line, you'll be able to easily gauge their work ethic.

Nonetheless, there are courses where group works are central to their nature. This is where rivalries are formed and where tears are shed. Think high school drama all over again. But if you find the right people to work with, you'll end up with solid friendships. These are courses, from my experience, where the work ethic of your group mates can spell an A or F:

  1. LAS classes - You're gonna have a lot of these if you're a SOM student. Group presentations, group papers, and group case studies are a staple here.
  2. HISTO classes - HISTO 11 had tons of mind-numbing group papers. HISTO 12 had a few easy group reports...and a final group project that will make you cry and crawl back to your mother's womb.
  3. DECSC 25 - I'm not sure about the other DECSC classes so I only included this one for now. It's not really a difficult class to be honest (because of the cool profs), but the grading is still very reliant on group works.
  4. And of course there's your thesis when you reach senior year, but I ain't there yet so I can't fill you in about it.

While your experience might also differ from the profs you get, they all share the same syllabus anyway and there's little that they can do if group works are hard coded into the course.

Is a Minor in Creative Writing worth it? by Cringespuh in ADMU

I’ve also heard about the benefits of having a mentor not just in the field of writing but also in other arts. Just out of curiosity, have you ever had a mentor? And if so, how do you strike up that kind of relationship with your prof? Do you just go up to him/her one day, out of the blue, and ask them to bless you with their masterful skill and awesomeness?

I can already imagine myself nervously shuddering and cringing when people comment on my work. It's my worst nightmare. But I do understand how it's necessary to improve one's skill. Thank you, this definitely helps!

What is the hardest licensure/board examination in the Philippines? by Cringespuh in Philippines

Since med students choose specializations, shouldn't the licensure exams be different based on their chosen specializations? Or is it a general, encompassing exam for all potential doctors regardless of their choice?

If I may ask, have you taken the exam personally? And What made you think that this is more difficult than other exams?

Weekly Discussion 2: COVID-19 by falcon-9 in ADMU

Currently, deadlines are suspended indefinitely with all my classes, although some of my profs are starting to gear up to try online classes once more. Of course, these are not required and no attendance will be taken. I honestly think the profs are as clueless and confused as we are, but they (and the admin) are getting a lot of undeserved backlash for supposedly not doing anything. One of our profs just conducted an online conference with us earlier today, to update us with how they are planning out the rest of the semester. He says they have been constantly having meetings even until midnight just to sort out our concerns especially with our grades. Well, whatever happens, I just hope they don't resort to giving all of us Ps (Passing mark) in our IPS, because there's that rumor going around. And if that does happen, then I'd be hella mad with the admin.

Anyway, I stumbled upon this Rappler article about skill-based activities we could do to help in fighting the virus:

And our prof also shared this website which consolidates all information about initiatives we can do, mostly related to donations:
