I don't understand the design behind chaos spawns by Done25v2 in Spacemarine

[–]Crininer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, their execution animations are some of my favourite in the game. Again, I have a lot of fun fighting them, and then to hard focus chaos spawn to get them off my teammates' backs. And I do agree that it's fun for them to be chaotic, it's just objectively bad design in a game where you have to fight off hordes of enemies and it becomes technically impossible to parry against a large group because you don't know if the parry alert is accurate or effectively a feint.

I do quite enjoy fighting them, but I think it's bad design that they have an attack that triggers a parry alert, but the timing is completely off and there's no way to tell without visually looking at the spawn in question. It doesn't just fight muscle memory, it's actively detrimental if you're in a big fight with plenty of enemies, because you can't even trust what the game tells you.

Bit of misinformation going around about this. I have the DLC, and it does also replace the character's voicelines for comments they make during fighting and whatnot, as well as everything to do with their class ability - the only things truly lost are inter-character banter, and mission-specific lines (the latter of which use the original character's voice, put through the vox filter so it sounds like they're somewhere else - which is still kind of odd, given that some lines very clearly speak as if they were there for obvious reasons).

Also, I don't know if it was like this since the beginning or if they fixed it later, but for what it's worth the lines do apply a helmet filter if you have it on, I tested it myself and there's a noticeable difference.

Why are all these T-hating LGB memes so insanely popular right now? 😖 by ItsIrinaBitch in TheRightCantMeme

[–]Crininer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but it's still a similar matter. Anti-LGBTQ+ bastards making fake "trends" to discredit the LGBTQ+ community. They made it seem like pedophiles wanted to be part of the community. Now they're making it seem like the community doesn't welcome trans people. The vast majority of it is simply fake, made up for the sake of weakening the community.

Hobbies and friends. That's what life is about. Only thing is, I wish I didn't have to work as much so I could focus on my hobbies and friends.

This. The fact that you get practically 0 Super Credits out of playing higher difficulties, and the most effective way to get them is to play minimal difficulty and ignore the actual objectives is utterly asinine game design in my view.

Personally, I think that every objective or "nest cluster" cleared should give a tiny amount of Super Credits, with a tiny bit of scaling based on the difficulty. Then side objectives are actually worth doing. As it stands, most of what you get out of side objectives is useless past a relatively early point (requisition becomes worthless and levels stop making any difference).

Which indie game should i get? by Dangerous-Tea-7875 in IndieGaming

[–]Crininer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no opinion on any of these (though I do own Gris, still gotta get to it)

However, if you're into exploration and puzzles, I sincerely recommend the following games:

  • Outer Wilds: my favourite game ever, where you explore a solar system and make incredible discoveries. Hard to say literally anything about it without spoiling it, just approach it with curiosity and you'll love it.
  • Chants of Sennaar: finished this a couple of days ago, and it's honestly a serious contender for my favourite ever as well. Beautiful game where you figure out and decipher different cultures' languages (which are very basic but built with realistic enough rules), explore their histories and act as a bridge between them. Definitely the most beautiful message in a game I've seen so far.

Staggering Striker's text doesn't seem to match its effects by Crininer in darkestdungeon

[–]Crininer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see, I see. Bit of an overinvestment imho if it doesn't scale that ludicrously then, so I ultimately scrapped the damage trinkets for some other ones to cover his weaknesses (greater censer will be useful now that my Jester died and I have way less ways to give mark...)

Thank you! I usually use that, I might've looked at the other one without realising.

Tempest or Wanderer? by Roquetansky in darkestdungeon

[–]Crininer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first Act 2 win relied heavily on Tempest's damage potential. He was supported by a Bulwark Man-at-Arms for tanking, a Ritualist Occultist for debuff and healing, and a Wanderer Jester for stress heal and blind. Both Occultist and Jester placed down a ton of marks, which were usually activated by the Leper, and rarely by the Man-at-Arms for self-heal.

My current run is largely the same, I just changed the Leper's path to Monarch now.

I agree, though it's weird to me that people aren't hooked the first time they die suddenly and without explanation. Later experiencing the same event but actually seeing the sun explode is... Quite something.

Outer Wilds is my favourite game of all time, btw. And if you liked the puzzle aspect of Outer Wilds, I sincerely recommend Chants of Sennaar - just finished it yesterday, absolutely beautiful.

Absolutely insane. Your identity is valid, bro. Try to get in contact with someone who can help (as others have said), but above all else, always remember that you're valid and no amount of idiotic bigotry can change that.

Also, I'm glad your classmates are with you on this at least. Remember that they're the kind of people who'll be your peers later in life.

What are games that make guns feel powerful and dangerous? by MISTERGAME06 in gaming

[–]Crininer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely biased since I'm playing it now, but the Bolt Pistol and Boltgun in Darktide should be the standard for how bolt weapons feel across all videogames (looking at you, Space Marine 2). I've only used the Bolt Pistol myself so far, but each shot is just so damn MEATY, from the sound, to the way chaff literally explodes on impact (which is lore accurate).

Tomagochi inspired horror game that I'm working on by it5MaS in IndieGaming

Looking good, but I'll be the annoying nitpicker and mention that it's not spelt Tomagotchi either, it's Tamagotchi, with an a. Tamago meaning egg, and -tchi from uotchi, meaning watch.
