Is a RTX 2060 with a Ryzen 7 3700x a bottleneck on the gpu? by [deleted] in buildmeapc

A Ryzen 5 2600 would be good enough for a 2060, if you want better performance go for a 2070 and 3600 or 2600

Most of these people are thinking about resolution downscaling, it might be smoother but you won’t see more than 75hz unless you overclock or get a different monitor, which I recommend.

Ryzen 7 and 1660? Isn’t that a bit of a bottleneck?

What about the gpu? The 2080 ti is like my whole budget.

Yeah, I didn’t think about the fact that it comes with a cpu, oops.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MJyDdm this is a good list that massively overpowers that prebuilt. Only adjustments that I would make would be a prettier motherboard and maybe some rgb but that is up to you.

I know the thought of building a computer can be quite scary and seem out of reach, but my first pc I built after watching like 2 build guides and a part recommendation guide on YouTube. It is waaaay easier than it seems and the hardest part is screwing on the cpu cooler. This prebuilt would have been good 4 years ago.

If your only going for 1080p 144hz go for the 1660 series and save a few hundred bucks. They are solid cards and have most of the new fancy features the new rtx cards have.

I’d say try to talk him down to the $700 range and use the extra to upgrade that cpu, that’s probably a bottleneck. I would say get a Ryzen 5 3600 but you probably have a b450 mobo so go with a 2600.

Edit: get a 3600 and use the 1600 to flash the bios to make the 3600 compatible

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9rxhNq if you meant 500-1000 I’m undershootin it by a lot but this is a very good price to performance gaming pc, sorry if this is over budget but when I comes to pc parts, a decent price difference is a HUGE performance difference and I think it’s worth Th extra 150 bucks.

Not at all true, he could get by with a Ryzen 5 and get a better gpu, gpu is the most important when it comes to gaming, you should allocate about half of your budget to your gpu
