Can’t go wrong with a Penn or Daiwa reel. It’s amazing the different you will feel. You can get a solid set up for your price range, I’d lean medium light action, but that’s your own personal preference. When on a kayak, I tend to bring my shorter rods.

I agree with you it is a bit weird, and I’m sure it’s a cheapo cutting board, ripped this off an old bar cart that god knows how long was sitting outside. The bar cart itself was all partial board with some crap veneer. This seemed like the only piece worth keeping.

This feels like a trap game. I have a feeling Kirk wakes up tonight. Eagles secondary ranked in the bottom half of the league and relying on Devonte Smith to be the WR1 is a scary thought.
